What are you watching now

Inspired by What are you Listening to Now I-VII, and by the old Omnibox thread. Also includes though, if you're watching an account on twitter or a sub on reddit if you wish, we'll discuss whatever comes up.

Right now I'm watching something that in my opinion is worth checking out. I'm watching it on Prime, it's called I think just "Chosen" (actually "The Chosen" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chosen_(TV_series)), and it's another theatrical rendition of the stories of Christ, but this is the first one that in my estimation is . . . for the lack of a more precise word . . . "cool". It's cool. Only about four episodes in so far, but it's already more entertaining I think than Mr. Mel Gibson's (and Mr. Jim Caviezel's) "Passion".

So what are you watching now?

I may watch the Jack Reacher TV series. I enjoyed the books. I binge read them a couple years ago when I had a broken back and couldn't do much else.

Fell off the dock and hit the edge on my way down. Broke two ribs and a vertebrae. Took about 2 months to get back to 100%.

That must have been almost like a vacation to be able to just sit and read for that long. You know except for the terrible injury that caused it.

Peaky Blinders - I persevered through the first season and am enjoying the second season much more.

Mr Inbetween - look for it on wiki, the story of the creator and the eventual production of it is really fascinating. I found I liked the characters, the story lines moved forward quickly, and it never got boring. Short story - he's a freelance hitman, thug for hire, struggling with relationships including his divorced wife and young daughter. When he's doing his job he's cold and calculating, a true psychopath. When he's interacting with normal people including his daughter he's normal. I was intrigued by the psychological switches that he made.

I flew through the Jack Reacher novels - they were pretty formulaic. I much more enjoyed Daniel Silva's Gabriel Allon series.

I guess I'm just not into series of books, it's too bad because people who are into them seem to act like there's a lot of great material available for those who are into it. My wife's into that, but as far as I can remember presently the only series I even only sort of read was the Narnia books and Harry Potter, and the latter was only because I was reading them to my progeny (I read the Narnia ones to them too).

Seems like it would be an awesome career to write a successful book series, on the other hand. Lots of famous writers figured out how to be formulaic without appearing formulaic, at least superficially enough for us to suspend judgment----oh yeah that reminds me, I did read a lot of Agatha Christie, those were fun. She sort of wrote series, Poirot.

Been watching Night Sky lately. I like JK Simmons.

I binged on Vikings, Spartacus, Warehouse 13, and of course various Star Treks

Been watching Night Sky lately. I like JK Simmons.

Man, that's a SLOW MOVER of a story, though. Each time I try watching it I find it just drags and drags and drags.

The best thing I've watched recently was Dave Letterman's new interview show (season 3 I think) with Billie Eilish as the 1st guest. Letterman is such an old and cynical carmudgeon yet Billie and her brother Finneas clearly won him over.

The other guests and interviews were pretty interesting, too. Will Smith was just plain creepy, if you ask me. But Kevin Durant was fascinating. A very smart man who's been living for a long time at the absolute top of his abilities. Not something the rest of us has ever really done or eperienced, and It was interesting hearing what he's learned from that.
