... you STAYED "married" to her for years afterward for monetary gain...
if adultery was a capital crime, swiftly enforced and punished, the chances that your husband (or my wife and her lover) would have even considered committing the act would be nil
If adultery was a capital crime in the west,
no one would get married by choice.
They would opt for non-contractual relationships.
You did such a poor job of answering this one, I will give you another chance.

So, if adultery was a capital crime, how would someone be proven guilty?
You guys are getting way over your skis on this one.
Spending an afternoon in a motel room isn't a crime.
Sneaking out after dark isn't a crime.
Witnesses? What did they see? Really?
Two naked people in a bed having sex would be pretty hard to explain away
Which is why the requirement is "two or three witnesses", and not "one witness."Ah, a "caught in the act" scenario?
The witness would be the husband, I suppose? The testimony of a biased witness?
He could be lying because he wants the house and the kids.

By two or three witnesses... Duh.
Having sex with someone else's spouse is...
A man should not (no, not a law, just as a general rule) sleep in the same room as a woman if either of them are married (obviously, this excludes two people married to each other).
Text messages, eyewitnesses saying they're friendly toward each other often, emails, photos, security camera footage, these are just a few examples of the kinds of witnesses that point to an adulterous relationship.
Ah, two or three witnesses? They all happened upon an act of adultery?
Text messages? Saying they're too "friendly"? None of those things prove an adulterous relationship is going on. Guilt is beyond a reasonable doubt, remember? It is not an easy crime to prove....between two consenting adults and all.
Which is why the requirement is "two or three witnesses", and not "one witness."
The Bible's standard is two or three "witnesses", not two or three "eyewitnesses".
That is the standard to use. Not "guilt beyond a reasonable doubt."
The best kind:thumb:
Or the wife, depending
Or the kids, or the neighbors, or the mailman, etc
Could be :idunno:
Isn't that the case with virtually any reported crime?
He (or she) sure could
But again, that's no different from any other reported crime
It is not an easy crime to prove....
How is that going to happen? A hidden camera? From every possible angle?
Acting too friendly is not a crime.
If you want to go by Biblical standards, you should be put to death if you're caught looking at a Playboy.
Firstly, if it was a crime, people would merely be careful. They wouldn't do it where they could be caught, but they'd still do it.
