God's Presence. Giving a prophecy. Hearing a prophecy that is for me or my family. Seeing someone get saved.

My kids' smiles. Signing a straight 'A' report card. Anything my grandbabies do. A certain sweet smile in my wife's eyes. An empty sink, with all the dishes dried and put away. Spotting a new life-form that I've never even heard of, in my reef tank. Corals propagating. Fish that lay eggs in the tank. A good song, without it being interrupted. Pushing the 'start' button on my car remote, on a cold and snowy morning. Getting a raise. One of my kids asking: "Dad, can I have a hug?" Hot coffee in the morning, with the Mrs.. Sharing a beer with friends. A warm glass of milk before bed.

Corals propagate?
Yes, some by division, some by simply growing new 'sprouts' (even though they are technically animals) and some by sexual reproduction, which occurs one night per year, thought to coincide with the phases of the moon. Some reefkeepers propagate their corals by cutting them into two pieces. Some large-polyp stony (LPS) corals are sawn into two pieces, using a water-cooled jigsaw. I have three corals in my tank that were one when I got them, but it split into two within a couple days, and just a couple days ago the larger piece split once more. I've had that one about two weeks. Some grow very quickly, and others, like the small-polyp stony (SPS) corals, like staghorn which are probably the most familiar, grow very slowly. Some 1/2" per month, some 1/2" per year.

And... if you haven't realized it by now: talking about my reef tank makes me very happy. :thumb:

I love finishing work and plopping down on the couch with the kids to play a game or watch something funny on TV.

I love watching hockey with my older boys.

I also love waking up knowing that I am on top of things at work and there are no imminent fires to put out (those are good days).

I love when April and I can go out and do something together either alone or with friends.

What makes me happy?

Generally, worldly things, including both sin-based materialism and amoral earthly things.

What gives me joy, on the other hand, is another matter.

What makes you happy?

Me, mostly...:D Now is that an expression of nurture, nature or will?

I was born with a severe respiratory difficulty that found me in and out of hospitals for a good bit of my formative years. While that took a portion of normal childhood from me, it also saw me surrounded by people evidencing genuine concern and affection for me, which I think had an impact on how I saw and see others and the world in general. I've lived rich and poor, been sick and ridiculously fit and through all of it I've remained in good spirits and of cheerful disposition...I wake in a fine state (and for that am not allowed to speak to my wife until after she's had her coffee) and go to bed pleasantly disposed.

I think gloom and sorrow take more effort, like frowning, but many people train themselves to find that state as a near default...Pity that.

I have found my Christian walk a great addition to that happiness and a perfect context for it.

My kids.

The idea of growing old with my husband and watching our family grow (I'm expecting a ton of grandkids! :D )

When the house is full of laughing people hanging out, eating, watching T.V., playing games, or all of the above.

And occasionally when the house is empty (almost, at least).

The nights when the whole family (or close to it) can sit down at the dining table for dinner.

Organized drawers, cabinets, shelves, storage, pantries, closets, desks. You'd think that must mean that everything in my house is organized. HA!! (Yeah right. That's a good one! :rotfl: ) But sometimes just getting one cabinet or closet cleaned every now and then can really make my day.

My Mac and my iphone.

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.

His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.

As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window. I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.'

'That doesn't have anything to do with it,' he replied. Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged .. it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. 'It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away.. Just for this time in my life... Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories! Thank you for your part in filling my Memory Bank. I am still depositing.

'Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Have a nice day, unless you already have other plans.
