Would the following statement agree with your faith?
"This above all: to thine own self be true,
and it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man."

None of those people are being true to themselves, because those behaviors come from lying to yourself about your actions.Would you say it to a pedophile, or a rapist, or a serial killer, etc.????
How is it lying to yourself if you truly desire to do those actions?None of those people are being true to themselves, because those behaviors come from lying to yourself about your actions.
How is it not lying to yourself if you tell yourself that it is okay for you to do those actions? How is it lying to yourself if you truly desire to do those actions?
Some don't see anything wrong with it but think it's natural (ie. their natural desire), and think that to deny themselves of their natural desires would be lying to themselves. How is it not lying to yourself if you tell yourself that it is okay for you to do those actions?
They are lying to themselves that their desires are natural and that they do not need to deny themselves of their unnatural desires. Some don't see anything wrong with it but think it's natural (ie. their natural desire), and think that to deny themselves of their natural desires would be lying to themselves.
So a homo should stay in the closet and not reveal his desires or act on them? They are lying to themselves that their desires are natural and that they do not need to deny themselves of their unnatural desires.
Should a person act upon his desires to commit adultery or suppress it?So a homo should stay in the closet and not reveal his desires or act on them?
Is the homo being truth to himself by trying to hide it?
That's the question.Should a person act upon his desires to commit adultery or suppress it?
Should a person act upon his desires to commit murder or suppress it?
Should a person act upon his desires to commit theft or suppress it?
Should a person say acting upon his sinful desires is being true to himself, or should a person tell himself the truth that acting upon his sinful desires is wrong?
How is it lying to yourself if you truly desire to do those actions?
I don't think the statement was about being true to GOD (or anyone else), but being true to yourself.Whatsoever things are true...think on those things (Phil 4:8). Would you say pedophilia, homosexuality, murder, rape, are things we should think on? If not, then do they count as true?
I would say that being true to yourself involves telling yourself the truth. And if those things are not good for you, if they will keep you from the kingdom of heaven (1 Cor 6:9-10), then it is lying to yourself to say you ARE those things, that it is part of your person to do those things. You can't seriously believe God created you to do those things, and to suggest so is lying to yourself.
I don't think the statement was about being true to GOD (or anyone else), but being true to yourself.
That's the question.
Does being true to YOURSELF (not others) mean you should hide and/or deny YOUR desires?
1 John 1:6 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: |
Psalm 36:1-4 1 The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. 2 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful. 3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good. 4 He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil. |

It doesn't say be true to truth, it says be true to YOURSELF.
1 John 1:6
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
If you walk in darkness, you do not the truth, therefore you are not being true to yourself.
Psalm 36:1-4
1 The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
There is no truth in a person like that, so there is no way for that kind of person to be true to himself.
The first step to getting help is admitting there is a problem, isn't it? Although in this case, maybe prison is a better solution than 'help.'Would you say it to a pedophile, or a rapist, or a serial killer, etc.????
