Since there seems to be resistance to the term liberal, I will refer to those on one side of the chasm and to others as being on the side of the chasm.
Those on the left side of the chasm see their way of political thinking as just the reality of life and those of us on the other side as something akin to Neanderthals and extremely backwards, bigoted and dangerous.
There are differences between those who are all on the same side of the chasm but these are insignificant in comparison to the differences between the two sides of the chasm.
The only time when this is not true is when a person has not clearly developed his political philosophy and/or has been brainwashed into believing an altered state of reality fed to them by the MSM.
Its these exceptions to the rule that can be persuaded to change their mind on some issue if given time and the right circumstances.
Unfortunately, here on TOL, there are very few who fit into this last category.
