Are by your definition "mortal children" describing the condition of all children born today? Because sin inherited from Adam is the cause of death, and it is "this sin" in children born today that is the reason they are born mortal AKA under the curse of death even though they themselves have not sinned in the same manner as Adam sinned because he disobeyed God.
