The Simplicity of the Gospel and the Complexity of Religion

There is the gospel of Jesus (his parabolic speech about the Kingdom of God) and then there is the gospel of Christ (what Jesus became to the church after he died).

I believe that God is revealed in the person of Jesus. To me, that's Christianity.

Instead of requiring "true" believers to give their assent to a list of ancient, outmoded beliefs from ancient times, we need to realize that a follower of Jesus needs to pick up their cross and follow him.

Anyone, anywhere, anytime can claim belief in theology like "born of a virgin," "Savior of the World," etc. It's no moral skin off anyone's nose to do that.

The Gospel is about what Jesus actually accomplished in his life, death and resurrection.

In his life he fulfilled all of the demands of God's Holy Law. In our name and on our behalf he offered to God the Father a life of perfect obedience to his Holy Law.

In his death he put to death the old sinful Adamic race and in doing so destroyed sin, death and the devil.

In his resurrection he brought forth a new humanity. perfected it and took it to heaven.

As God's new Adam and our new humanity we can now stand before God's holy court as justified.

TULIP is the Gospel of Gods Grace and you despise it!

The Gospel is about what Jesus actually accomplished in his life, death and resurrection.
Mark, the earliest gospel written, begins with the announcement of the gospel which was the Kingdom of God:

"The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!"

It announces the "Good News." That's the actual meaning of the word "gospel." And Jesus indicated this place in parables.

Unfortunately, those are the teachings most Christians run from. And no wonder. They are not about believing in propositional theology or dogmatic phrases and notions.

They are about picking up one's cross and following the Truth.

I can certainly understand your interpretation, opinion and faith concerns as you have expressed them here. But theology--however personal it might feel to us--is a human construct.

Being able to separate faith from facts (in ourselves and in the Bible itself) only helps enrich and deepen our faith.

The Gospel is not a human construct.

The Gospel is what God has actually accomplished in his Son Jesus Christ.

The Gospel is not a human construct.
That makes no sense. There are too many contradictions, traditions, legends, discrepancies and theologies in the text. It is a collection of writings from many different inspired authors during different times and in different places. Each book of the Bible has an authentic history and cultural context surrounding it.

Matthew sees a corpse walking around; Paul asserts it's a "glorified body."

John claims Jesus died on the Day of Preparation; Mark, Luke and Matthew say it was on Passover.

John says Jesus is divine; the Jesus of Mark, Matthew and Luke refers to himself as the "son of man" which means "human being" and never claims divinity.

People who have not studied the text in a comparative, focused way and who have not tried to discover what the original authors meant (instead of interpreting everything through post-modern glasses) will naturally feel alarmed and threatened by what I have posted.

The Gospel is what God has actually accomplished in his Son Jesus Christ.
The meaning of the word "gospel" is "good news." If you are going to add to the text, that is fine. But you should admit what you are doing.

All of the books of the Bible lead up to one thing and that is that Jesus is the savior of the whole world, just like John said,

"And he is a propititation for our sins; and not ours only, but for the sins of the whole world' 1 John 2:2.

If you miss that, you have missed the whole thing.

You teach that Christ failed to Save millions that He is a Savior unto! What happened?

He does give them repentance since Christ has believed for them! Those Christ lived and died for are believers from Christ Faith before they believe themselves!

There is 0 scripture that says Christ believes for anyone. That is another Calvinist fairy tale.
