Peter was preaching the Kingdom Message to members of the House of Israel. The Apostle Paul was preaching the Grace Message to the Gentile belivers.
What happens to believers who do not go along with the sanctifying process unto son-ship?
IMO, we're talking about the wheat vs the tares, the sheep vs the goats, etc.
The tares and the goats get thrown into the fire where there is mucho gnashing of da teeths.
Does all of this (above and below) tie in with our favorite, Matthew 7:21-23,
where some believers are told that Jesus didn't know them?
Matthew 13:
47 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet
that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind,
48 which, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down
and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.
49 So it will be at the end of the age.
The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just,
50 and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
The net is not gathering all humans.
It is gathering believers ... some prove to be true, and some false.
The good, the just --- righteous in God's eyes --- acceptable
The bad, the wicked --- unrighteous in God's eyes --- unacceptable
Sorry, CR, I'm not really following you!
Not saying you're wrong ... I'm just not understanding you.
The correct heart attitude, desiring to please Him, doing the utmost to be obedient, walking the narrow road is accomplished though the action of the Holy Spirit in the life of the child of God.YES ... it's all about having the correct heart attitude.
Those who really love Jesus really desire to please Him.
This is revealed in their doing their utmost to be obedient to His commands.
This is part and parcel of walking on that narrow path/road unto eternal life.
The correct heart attitude, desiring to please Him, doing the utmost to be obedient, walking the narrow road is accomplished though the action of the Holy Spirit in the life of the child of God.
Romans 14:12 (KJV)If by the Holy spirit, the accomplishment happens by us as the result of our pursuit, not for self discipline but, to know Him; learning how to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
Getting saved sure is tough. I don't think I can hack it.
Romans 14:12 (KJV)
So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Christians devote much study and prayer to harmonizing God's Sovereignty and human responsibility. Looking to the Holy Spirit to guide, has often led me to this verse:
Psalm 25:9 (KJV)
The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
Getting saved sure is tough. I don't think I can hack it.
Was Peter writing to members of the House of Israel or to the Gentiles? Context IS everything.
Obviously the entire post #38, or I would have been specific. There is nothing wrong with not understanding but,
which part that I can enlarge upon?
You focus on obedient believers; I focus on disobedient ones! The correct heart attitude, desiring to please Him, doing the utmost to be obedient, walking the narrow road is accomplished though the action of the Holy Spirit in the life of the child of God.
Haven't you read several of Paul's statements aboutHi and when the OP CAN explain how Paul was saved
If you have an NT, read Romans 6 where Paul says the Roman believers...and they think they are serving God
If you have an NT, read Romans 6 where Paul says the Roman believers
need to choose to be slaves of righteousness and of obedience
... in order to be slaves of God ... unto holiness and eternal life.
All of dis good stuff is serving God.
He was writing to Christians. In the Gospels, Jesus spoke to the Jews, in the epistles the Apostles spoke to the church. There was no difference in Jew or Gentile except the Jews generally had more knowledge of God.
2Pe 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
