Instead, what we are seeing are changes forced through by an unsavory cabal of unelected regulators (often extending their mandates beyond any reasonable interpretation of what they should be), unelected activists, unelected corporate managements, and unelected investment-management groups with billions of dollars of other people’s money to play with. And then there are judges, discovering law where there is none.
In a recent referendum, Swiss voters, a constituency by no means hostile to environmentalist rhetoric, gave a demonstration that helps explain climate warriors’ aversion to democracy.
