North Korea’s first vice foreign minister says the country has no interest in a summit with the United States if it’s going to be a “one-sided” affair where it’s pressured to give up its nukes.

The statement by Kim Kye Gwan on Wednesday came hours after the North abruptly canceled a high-level meeting with South Korea and threatened to do the same with a planned summit between leader Kim Jong Un and President Donald Trump next month.

Kim Kye Gwan criticized recent comments by Trump’s top security adviser John Bolton and other U.S. officials who have been talking about how the North should follow the “Libyan model” of nuclear disarmament and provide a “complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement.”

He also criticized other U.S. comments that the North should completely abandon not only its nukes and missiles but also its biological and chemical weapons.

Kim says: “We will appropriately respond to the Trump administration if it approaches the North Korea-U.S. summit meeting with a truthful intent to improve relations.”

He adds: “But we are no longer interested in a negotiation that will be all about driving us into a corner and making a one-sided demand for us to give up our nukes and this would force us to reconsider whether we would accept the North Korea-U.S. summit meeting.”

Which makes sense, when you understand the clown car approach to politics that is North Korea.

Also, it's odd how the hard right was quick to jump all over our last president for negotiating with hostile powers but ready to praise the current one for making the effort.

 *Odd* as in exactly what I have come to expect. IF NK was so easy to fix, it would have happened years ago.

...a non-entity, a nobody, said something worthless

Kim Kye Gwan is speaking as a diplomat and as a representative of North Korea in an official capacity.

I'm sorry, perhaps you were referring to yourself.

Anna the baby-killing Kenyan worshipper clings to it like a lifeboat. Any small hope that peace fails and Trump fails is good for Anna. What a sick pathetic person.

I'm sure she's about as much of a fan of Trump as you were of Obama. You're already trying to give Trump the Nobel Peace Prize because of your obvious Trump man-crush :flamer:

Makes what, exactly, look easy? I'd be happy to see NK actually begin to change how they do business, but have they really?

NK got exactly what they wanted. Recognition. He's a terrorist and dictator (like Putin) and there is zero chance that these types will ever deal with other countries honorably.

With regard to NK's historical likelihood of negotiating in good faith, Trump's supporters should have been chanting; "NO BULL! NO BULL! NO BULL!"

Trump has negotiated with people around the world with billions of his own dollars at stake. He knows BS when he hears it and he won't get fooled. At least he won't give the Norks a plane-load of unmarked bills the way the baby-killing Kenyan socialist did for Iran.

Trump: A man notoriously infamous for repeatedly getting conned into paying hundreds of millions of dollars more than a piece of real estate was actually really worth.

You idol worshippers are all alike - just make things up as you go.

Trump supporters yesterday:
Trump’s amazing! No other
president could have pulled off a
summit with Kim Jong Un.

Trump supporters today:
Trump’s amazing! No other
president could have cancelled a
summit with Kim Jong Un.

Remember when Obama said that he would even consider personally talking to Kin Jong Un?

The video, released Thursday night by the news outlet Now This, showed cuts of some of the network's best-known hosts, like Sean Hannity, Steve Doocy and Geraldo Rivera, pouring scorn on Obama for suggesting he could meet with leaders from Iran and North Korea without preconditions. Many of those same personalities and commentators are then shown characterizing Trump’s expected talks with Kim as a “win” for the Republican. Some even said Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.
