Star Wars restoration 4K77

Several groups have put forth their own restoration of the 3 original films as they didn't like the changes made. They used multiple sources as Lucasfilm would not release the original materials, only 1997 alterations and later. Some come from Lucasfilm BlueRay itself. One group and person came up with a different idea. I have his presentation here. The very short version is he got the original theater prints as nobody has the negatives, and they also think Lucasfilm was accurate in stating the original negatives deteriorated in a way they weren't expecting. He scanned multiple 35mm prints into 4K. And in doing so made so they don't have to paint over flaws as he calls it, destroying the original work.

He is mildly vulgar a couple of times, but it isn't off the charts. If your 12 year old son is there he will giggle at the comment. This is still considered piracy in the eyes of Lucasfilm and maybe the law. It would be an interesting court case for sure. Here is how he says they did it. You can get the idea by watching just the first 40 minutes.

In fact on other videos on their work someone said they are destroying art. Not so, from a basic logic perspective.

Part of my post is the fact that Lucasfilm is going to release the movie in its 1977 form (allegedly) and I will be seeing it. Without a question and answer from Lucasfilm, people are speculating. I wonder if they saw this, and said lets do it.
