Why are there not speed limits in space? Reliable, "Eagle Eye" Deputy Barney Fife would call this, "philosophical meandering."

Why do you think there are not speed limits? There is excellent evidence for a physical limit.
Or are you referring to statutes?

I have not seen photos in space, of something along the lines of this...

....Or, on "Star Trek," I never saw a sign, such as this:

Fascinating, Captain...

I asked if you referred to physical or statutory speed limits, but I see you are conflating the two.

Never mind.

Never mind.

I see that you are a fool.

"Why are there not speed limits in space?"

Only a fool, with a 6th grade eggekashun, would need clarification on the question.

Sit, fool.

Dig?

Have you considered Ezekiel chapters 1, 4, 8 where Ezekiel sees the space ship of the lord God.

time to go :rapture:

Assuming complete vacuum and no interference by outside objects or forces, a 1960 Ford Fairlane with standard police package can be assumed to continue at its attained rate which, given the speed limit on Main Street, is 25 mph.

Otis Campbell's hot rod is another matter entirely, as it made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs.

The speed of light is the assumed speed limit of the universe, though it is starting to be contested.

No, it is not assumed, but it is both measured and theoretically predicted. By 'starting to be contested', you mean what, exactly?

There is a speed limit, the speed of light. It cannot be exceeded.

Some scientists claim that neutrinos travel faster than light.

The thing people need to understand is that not all particles and measures of the universe were known in Einstein's time. It's not science to refuse to acknowledge that someone might be wrong out of reverence of that person. If this were the case, we should have closed the book at Newton.

We'll have to wait and see what science figures out. One of the more interesting postulates I have heard recently is that information has a maximum speed of c. As such, you could never measure anything faster than c.

In 1994 Mexican physicist Miguel Alcubierre published a paper that detailed a plausible "warp drive" that gets around the speed of light limit. There is much debate in the scientific community whether Alcubierre's theory could actually produce faster-than-light travel.

.

There is a joint DARPA/NASA project called 100 Year Starship. The goal is to have a warp drive spacecraft in 100 years.
