Is sin the result of temptation?
It can be a broad question.
Can you sin without being tempted to sin?
We know the first couple were tempted when they sinned.
Was Satan tempted to sin against GOD?
Where does temptation come from?
Within or without, or both?
James 1:14 But when a man is tempted, it is his own passions that carry him away and serve as a bait.
James 1:15 Then the passion conceives, and becomes the parent of sin; and sin, when fully matured, gives birth to death.
Jesus explains too that sin comes from thoughts that are put into your heart, where a person fosters it.
Matthew 15:9 For out of the heart come evil thoughts--murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.
Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Satan is the prince of the air…he puts thoughts in people’s minds, and people can put those thoughts in their hearts, and then they act them out.
Ephesians 2:2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
Our flesh craves what we think about deeply, thoughts that we put into our hearts. The thoughts of sin come from out of the air, from the prince of the air. We can train our minds to submit to God and think of what is lovely and true. We can make sure we guard our hearts and not put those evil thoughts there.
