ECT Self "banning"-Time for a Galatians 1:17-18 KJV

I came to TOL, years ago, excited, after being saved, with the aim to edify others, per Romans 14:19 KJV, Romans 15:2 KJV, 2 Corinthians 12:19 KJV, Ephesians 4:16 KJV, Ephesians 4:29 KJV, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, and share, per 2 Timothy 2:2 KJV, what I've been taught, by the LORD God, through other faithful men. I wanted others to know about how great a Saviour we have.

However, in recent days, I admit that I've not been true to, specifically, the Ephesians 4:29 KJV exhortation, and this has "sapped" the joy from me, excitement, which I enjoyed, in former years, in being given the honor, of preaching the gospel/good news of this great Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, and instead, have focused less on 2 Timothy 4:2 KJV, less on "by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers....speak thou the things which become sound doctrine..(Titus 1:9 KJV, Titus 2:1 KJV), and less on, per above, 2 Timothy 2:2, KJV, and too much on swatting gnats, wolves. Make no mistake-I still will not negotiate, "make nice," with commies, or wolves/wolf-ette's. However, it is time to "take break," get "re-charged," "re prioritize," bury my head in this great book, and its details, study it, respect it, love it, submit to it, mediate on it, survey it, so as to rightfully expound on it,with my typical brilliance, and humility, in the future.

I take comfort in the fact that the LORD God needs nothing from me, or any of us, and it is a privilege, honor,of me/us to have been given the gift of being His ambassador, on this great forum/outlet, TOL, despite my failings, and that I realize, that I need Him much more(quite an understatement!), than he needs me. I also take comfort in the biblical principle that my obligation, charge, is to be faithful, not successful-success is in His quite capable hands.

Therefore, fellow members of the boc, the sheep/babes in Christ, wolves/wolf-ette's, I "sign off" for now, following in some of the great ones of TOL, who have done likewise, such as the man of chicken, STP, heir, Nick.....as I am taking a hiatus, an "Arabian" vacation for a spell. As Arnold would say, "I will be bahccck!"

I also post this, to dispel any possible forthcoming speculation, that I've been "wacked" by the wolves!

Bye, bye for now, and, being a stock trader, don't buy bonds(for now!).

While this might be somewhat true (I've not read every post you've written and so cannot say with any precision), I would have to point out that the nature of TOL, being a mostly anonymous (and therefore consequence free) internet forum, as well as the nature of the particular crowd who happen to be posting here at this time, it would be rather difficult for you to have not been harsh and rather ugly to those whom you engaged with here. You and I have somewhat similar personalities, I think. I used to get so angry and vitriolic with the Calvinists here it was just unbelievable. Your alternative would have been to put gobs and gobs of people on ignore, as I have done, in which case you find that there are very few here who are worth your time who don't already mostly agree with you.

There was a time when one could spend countless hours debating, actually debating, really interesting and difficult topics of all kinds here on TOL. That really hasn't been my experience here for quite a long time, but things like that are cyclical and the pendulum will swing back the other way eventually. In the mean time, its a matter of digging through the mud to find the gem stones.

While you're gone, remember that your time here wasn't wasted and there were some who read your posts and were edified by them, even if they didn't write a response very often.

Up front this will seem like a crude and unfair analogy so please allow me to explain it. I also admit it's only my opinion but it's how I have come to view things here.

TOL is like a septic or sewer line: it performs a sometimes unpleasant but very important and necessary function, but only when it is kept functioning well.

There are two things that usually go wrong with septic and sewer lines. One is that large items which should never have been allowed to enter, get inside and obstruct the workings. The other is that, over time, tree roots can infiltrate, creeping inside unnoticed until suddenly they're a problem. So in case it needs spelled out...

Obstructions = tolerated trolls and psychotics.

Sneaky root clogs = socks, mobies and other fakes.

Restricted water flow can be ignored for only so long before people quit using the facilities and the whole thing falls into stinky disrepair. The backup can't be contained. It inevitably leaks and spreads, soiling everything.

People you WANT to stay, leave. People who cause the problem seem to thrive and multiply.

If a broken system is to be saved, there's only one way: by manually (forcefully) removing all obstructions so the spread of filth is stopped as water flows freely again.

But that's not enough. You must also prevent future obstructions by putting in place screens and filters as well as inviolable rules of use. Break the rules and the facilities are forever off-limits to you. No grace periods, no second chances, no isolation (which hasn't worked). OUT.

IOW, obstruction removal with immediate and extreme prejudice. Just as you would with your own septic or sewer line.

Lots of clogs here on TOL that only grow worse the longer they're tolerated. This is a job for Roto-Rooter.

Personally, I find that a bit extreme. There are some here who have an odd sense of humour, and it can be taken wrong. I be one of those.

I see what you're saying. I'd hate to be in charge of making those calls, however.

Right now we seem to have a lot of people who deny the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. I can't even stand to read their posts....and they're EVERYWHERE.

They need to go elsewhere or at least have their access restricted from ECT, which itself could be tightened up. That would solve at least half of the contention on TOL.

And by tightened up, only those who affirm 1 Cor 15:3-4 as the saving gospel today get access (MAD or not), not just trinitarians. That would leave about a dozen or so people, I think, to have good discussions, not including the ones who left but can be invited back.
