Danger cannot fright me if my Lord is near.

Sunday Morning Praise


I’ll Count My Blessings

I lift my heart today in praise to Him who loves me so,
Whose mercy crowneth all my days, and makes my cup o’erflow.
O have I loved Him as I should for all His blessings free?
Praise God who giveth naught but good, for He is good to me!

I thank Him for unclouded skies — For love beyond my kin,
That when my path in shadow lies, the sunshine comes again.
I thank Him for the hopes fulfilled — for every answered plea,
That though life was not all I willed, my God is good to me!


I go to meet another day, with faith no doubt can dim,
God reigneth, and I will not fear, but trust my way with Him.
Then if that way be bright or dark, let peace unshaken be!
And let me, like the soaring lark, sing God is “good to me!”

I’ll count my blessings, count them o’er and o’er,
I’ll tell of my Father’s goodness, I will love Him more;
I’ll count my blessings, bountiful and free, can I count them all?
Yes I’ll tell that my God is good to me!

Countless Blessings

Crowned and crowded with God’s blessings has my pathway been,
Every moment from His bounty something new;
I have tried to count them over, but when I begin,
I can only stop and marvel at the view.

From His storehouse overflowing, like a king He gives,
And with lavish hand my every need supplies;
Untold mercies every day from Him my heart receives,
And to comprehend His goodness vainly tries.

Tho’ His love I cannot fathom, or His mercies count,
Or my debt of gratitude to Him repay,
Hearts by sin and sorrow broken everywhere are found,
I can pass my blessings on to cheer their way.

Pressing onward, ever onward, never looking back
Till I reach my home in yonder sun-bright clime;
With my way to Him committed, nothing shall I lack
For I have the Blesser with me all the time.

Countless blessings, countless blessings,
And blessings more to follow, praise His name!
I am lost in love and wonder, for they far the stars outnumber,
And blessings more to follow, praise His name.

Work is sweet, for God has blest honest work with quiet rest,
Rest below and rest above in the mansions of His love,
When the work of life is done, when the battle’s fought and won.

Work ye, then, while yet ’tis day, work ye Christians, while ye may,
Work for all that’s great and good, working for your daily food.
Working whilst the golden hours, health, and strength, and youth are yours.

Working not alone for gold, not the work that’s bought and sold,
Not the work that worketh strife, but the working of a life
Careless both of good or ill, if ye can but do His will.

Working ere the day is gone, working till your work is done,
Not as exchangers at marts, but as fitteth honest hearts,
Working till your spirits rest with the spirits of the blest.

So God led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt … And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the LORD…Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided…But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea...So the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians. Exodus 13:18; Exodus 14:10, 21, 29-30​

whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.

The Red Sea Place

Have you come to the Red Sea place in your life,
Where, in spite of all you can do,
There is no way out, there is no way back,
There is no other way but through?
Then wait on the Lord with a trust serene
Till the night of your fear is gone;
He will send the wind, He will heap the floods,
When He says to your soul, "Go on."

And His hand will lead you through - clear through -
Ere the watery walls roll down,
No foe can reach you, no wave can touch,
No mightiest sea can drown;
The tossing billows may rear their crests,
Their foam at your feet may break,
But over their bed you shall walk dry shod
In the path that your Lord will make.

In the morning watch, beneath the lifted cloud,
You shall see but the Lord alone,
When He leads you on from the place of the sea
To a land that you have not known;
And your fears shall pass as your foes have passed,
You shall be no more afraid;
You shall sing His praise in a better place,
A place that His hand has made.

And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.” Exodus 14:13​

When Israel Out of Bondage Came

When Israel out of bondage came,
A sea before them lay;
My Lord reached down His mighty hand,
And rolled the sea away.

Before me was a sea of sin,
So great I feared to pray;
My heart’s desire the Savior read,
And rolled the sea away.

When sorrows dark, like stormy waves,
Were dashing o’er my way,
Again the Lord in mercy came,
And rolled the sea away.

For needed grace I’ll pray;
I know the Lord will quickly come,
And roll the sea away.

Then forward still — ’tis Jehovah’s will,
Though the billows dash and spray.
With a conq’ring tread we will push ahead;
He’ll roll the sea away.

Keep On Singing

Have you grown discouraged, weary, amid the cares of life?
Do you often grow disheartened and falter in the strife?
Jesus knows about the burden, He’ll bear you safely through;
Then sing a song of gladness, He’ll care for you.

Do you wander from the Savior, and sometimes lose the way?
Does the tempter oft assail you and beckon day by day?
Never fear! be strong, courageous, the Lord will surely win;
He’ll conquer every trial and save from sin.

Hear the Savior gently calling, “Come lay your trails on Me;
I will give you full comfort, will restore, set your soul at ease”
Just believe His precious promise, accept this for your own;
Come sing your psalms of gladness before His throne.

Keep on singing! The world is bright and fair;
God is o’er us, His love is everywhere;
He will keep you, just trust Him all the way,
And keep on singing, throough every day.

Not always on the mount may we
Rapt in the heav’nly vision be:
The shores of thought and feeling know
The Spirit’s tidal ebb and flow.

Lord it is good abiding here,
We cry, the heav’nly presence near:
The vision vanishes, our eyes
Are lifted into vacant skies.

Yet hath one such exalted hour
Upon the soul redeeming power,
And its strength, through after days,
We travel our appointed ways,

Till all the lowly vale grows bright,
Transfigured in remembered light,
And in untiring souls we bear
The freshness of the upper air.

The mount for vision: but below
The paths of daily duty go,
And nobler life therein shall own
The pattern on the mountain shown.

Here, where the Apostle’s heart of rock is nerved against temptation’s shock;
Here, where the Son of Thunder learns the thought that breathes, and word that burns;
Here, where on eagle wings we move with him whose last best creed is love.

O Master, it is good to be entranced, enwrapt, alone with Thee;
And watch Thy glistening raiment glow whiter than Hermon’s whitest snow;
The human lineaments that shine irradiant with a light divine;

All the people shall proclaim Thee, sing Thy praise from shore to shore;
Every human heart shall name Thee, God and King forevermore;
On Thy throne in heaven vaulted, in Thy majesty exalted,

When at last my feet have found Thee, when at last I am Thy own;

Darkness may o’ertake me and my song forsake me,
But alone I never shall be;
For the Friend beside me promised He would guide me,
And will keep His promise to me.

Should misfortune meet me, friends may fail to greet me,
But if true to Jesus I stay
He will still uphold me, let His love enfold me
Every dreary mile of the way.

How the thought enthralls me, that whate’er befalls me
One will always love me the same;
Not a trial ever causes Him to sever
From the ones who honor His name.

He will keep his promise to me,
All the way with me He will go;
He has never broken any promise spoken;
He will keep His promise, I know.

Dark Threads The Weaver Needs

My Life is but a weaving
between my Lord and me;
I cannot choose the colors
He worketh steadily.

Oft times He weaveth sorrow
And I, in foolish pride,
Forget He sees the upper,
And I the under side.

Not til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver's skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.

He knows, He loves, He cares,
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives His very best to those
Who leave the choice with Him.
