Oral Roberts, anyone?
If it's such a big issue, then simply charge people to use the service. Those who don't want to pay won't be able to post. It's a simple solution.
BillyBob, you say that someone who doesn't want to pay is a commie.
What do you call someone who pays for something that's free?

Would you mind reminding me again why I'm supposed to care about some stranger's profit margin?BillyBob said:Not only that, but there is no reason to not expect a proprietor of a website like this to make a profit.
I was originally invited to post here by some long-departed poster. If you honestly find my presence so offensive, convince Knight to cancel my User ID.SOTK said:Yeah, selfish ones.

don't you guys ever get sick of moaning and groaning?
are you really so bored and miserable that you have to sit around and invent things to complain about?
Actually, it's more like a guerilla warfare tactic... using the enemy's own resources against him.BillyBob said:Sounds just like a typical liberal.

I find it hard to believe that you're making all this noise out of the goodness of your heart; how do you profit by TOL financial success?

Failing that; learn to live with disappointment.
Next you'll be telling us that conservatives don't use people... :chuckle:BillyBob said:Sounds just like a typical liberal.

You know better than that. A few bucks a month to help out a site which you participate at would just be a decent and kind thing to do.
BillyBob said:No, Kat keeps me occupied most of the time, I just wondered why people who post thousands of times don't subscribe. Do you pay for cable TV? Electricity? Ineternet service?
Actually, I was thinking of telling Turbo, "As you wish, Buttercup." But I wasn't sure how he'd take it.koban said:You've been watching The Princess Bride again, haven't you?
Sleep well and dream of large women.
beanieboy said:Then perhaps paying for the service should be mandatory, instead of an option, right?
$30 a year isn't that much.
In a capitalistic society, if people don't want to pay for your service, or won't use it unless it's free, it's just the nature of the system.
But offering an option of pay vs. don't pay is like McDonald's having a jar that says, "The food is free but we would really appreciate some money to keep things going."
Seems to me that offering the service to everyone, regardless if they can pay, is closer to socialism, and that's why you have a problem with it.

Tell me what TOL has to offer.
As it is, I come here for people like Balder, Zack, ww, and other nonsubscribers that have cool insight. Were it not for them, were they all unable to post due to the mandatory charge, I would have no reason to log on.
So, sell me TOL. What's so great about it?
