If it's such a big issue, then simply charge people to use the service. Those who don't want to pay won't be able to post. It's a simple solution.

$30 a year isn't that much. In a capitalistic society, if people don't want to pay for your service, or won't use it unless it's free, it's just the nature of the system.
But offering an option of pay vs. don't pay is like McDonald's having a jar that says, "The food is free but we would really appreciate some money to keep things going."

Seems to me that offering the service to everyone, regardless if they can pay, is closer to socialism, and that's why you have a problem with it.

No, Kat keeps me occupied most of the time, I just wondered why people who post thousands of times don't subscribe. Do you pay for cable TV? Electricity? Ineternet service?

I would expect that if subscriptions are mandatory, there would be very few posters here. Most people who end up as subscribers start off using the system free of charge, but when they determine that they like it here and are going to post regularly, they subscribe.
