I think when we are saved, it does glorify God. Not to get caught up in the margins. While Romans-Philemon is our doctrine to know and study, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are still gospel truth. I almost never quote John 3. From John 17

Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

The late Bob Enyart on his TV show decades ago said the death penalty is at the heart of the gospel. It is. I can't imagine what he wen through in his heart and mind knowing he knew what was coming. Let this cup pass from me.

I think that's a really good point. I knew my answer would not be perfect. So I am glad that I could also refer him to this thread and that you took the time to take part in it.

I think we did a pretty good job, actually. (y)

That guy was an excellent Bible teacher. And he really cared about people too. He used to have a TV show broadcast out of South Bend when I was young and dumb and me and my other punk friends would always watch his show at night. And it changed people's lives. I don't know how else to describe it. Me and some others would call him on the phone and talk to him.

That is a good way to describe it. One thing for me that stood out was he veered off course a little bit. The show was more like the Rush Limbaugh show, as you know. But theology came in with a caller. And what roll does the Bible have in government. Bob asked the question, and I didn't know how to answer. I know what Exodus-Dueteronomy says. He asked

Should a man be executed for picking up sticks on Saturday

Once you realize why you need to divide the gospel and see the standards for Israel, it makes it easy. But then, I had no idea.

Oh you're a piece of history then (seriously). I never personally interacted with him, even though from time to time over the years he would post on TOL. I may have replied to one of his posts once, but he really only rarely posted so he didn't reply to lots of other posters as well.
