We are the offspring of God !

We are the offspring of God !

Who is Paul speaking of here when He preaches this Acts 17:29

29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

The Offspring of God , and the Offspring of Christ are the same Offspring since Jesus Christ is God See Jn 1:1. Now Paul goes back to when God made man in Adam Acts 17:26

26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

And Adam was a Type/ Figure of Christ who was to come and die for His Offspring Isa 53:10

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed/offspring, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

Remember He [Jesus Christ] is the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father Isa 9:6

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

He is a Father from Eternity because He had a Seed from Eternity, So Paul is speaking of that Offspring, The Offspring of the Mighty God.

So believers are made manifest to be of His offspring. Thats why some who heard this particular sermon by Paul on mars hill believed Acts 17:33-34

33 So Paul departed from among them.

34 Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

So they were of that Offspring of God, of Christ among them who heard that sermon and Christ calling them through it to Faith.

See all men without exception were not in Adam at the beginning, but only the Seed of Abraham. If we look at the scripture Adam was 11 Generations Abraham's Grand Father Lk 3:34-38

34 Which was the son of Jacob, which was the son of Isaac, which was the son of Abraham, which was the son of Thara, which was the son of Nachor,

35 Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala,

36 Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech,

37 Which was the son of Mathusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was the son of Jared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan,

38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

And Christ sprung from this root according to the flesh Lk 3:23

23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

In the very beginning Adam and Eve were Created specifically for the Godly Elect Seed Mal 2:15

And did not he make one[Adam and Eve]? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

The Godly Seed was first only represented by Adam and Eve, and it was them only who sinned in Adam, and only them shall be and have been redeemed by Christ, for they were His Seed Isa 53:10

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

Thats the Offspring of God in Acts 17:29, not all mankind without exception !

Did not the jews do this very thing ?

Did not the jews do this very thing ?

Rom 1:21-24

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

Did not the people of ethnic israel, after having experienced the providential goodness of God, the True God, did they not exchange the Glory of the Immortal and Uncorruptible God, for am image of a fourfooted beast, a calf !

Lets look at Ex 32:1-6

And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the Lord.

6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

Notice Vs 4, did they not attribute to a dumb calf image, a fourfooted beast that which should have only been attributed to the One and Only True God ? I say then, ethnic jews left to themselves are no better than Gentiles who were left to themselves ! This is proof !

Repentance unto Life !

Repentance unto Life !

Acts 11:18

When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

This repentance is a New Covenant Blessing for those whose sins have been forgiven by the New Covenant or Testament in Christ's Blood as per Matt 26:28

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

It comes with remission of sins or forgiveness of sins Lk 24:47

47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Acts 5:31

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

This repentance is given only to those whom Christ gives New Life through His Resurrection, or who have been made alive unto God Rom 6:11

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

If man has not been made alive to God through Jesus Christ he is yet under Law and married to the Law, Rom 7:1-4

1Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.

3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

In an unregenerate state man is bound to the Law of God, and in such cases man has not right , nor obligation to repent, man under law must simply obey God perfectly or die. Men under adam must either remain innocent as adam was before his sin or die. Man failed under the first natural creation order, so now his only hope is that he is made a New Creature, wherein Faith and Repentance are granted and imperative. In other words, both Faith and Repentance are only duties [when speaking of Salvation and the forgiveness of sins] for the New Creatures in Christ Jesus. If man has not been made a New Creature first by New Birth, then he is bound to obey the Law as long as he liveth, and repentance is not an option !

Acts 2:38 The word for ! What does it mean ?

Acts 2:38 The word for ! What does it mean ?

Acts 2:38

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The word for here, the prep eis to or into (indicating the point reached or entered, of place, time, fig. purpose, result)

into, in, unto, to, upon, towards, for, among.

The word is misunderstood by many, for it would be properly understood as " because of" or"in view of " the remission of sins.

Used in the way eis is used here Matt 12:41

41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

The word at here is eis and could be read Matt 12:41

41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented in view of the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

or Matt 12:41

41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented because of the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

So Acts 2:38 should read Acts 2:38

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ because of or in view of the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Remission of sins is your consideration for doing it.

Remission of sins is never based upon what one does, but upon what Christ has done for one Matt 26:28

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

The word for here is again the prep eis as in Acts 2:38 !

Peter is here exhorting new converts to be identified with the Doctrine of Christ by Baptism in His Name, it was a public confession that you believe in substitutionary Death of Christ and what it accomplished against your sins. It remitted them.

Otherwise if we teach that water baptism is the condition for remission of sins, then we teach Salvation by works , by something we do.

Children of Wrath as others !

Children of Wrath as others !

Eph 2:3

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Now Paul is writing of those Chosen in Christ before the foundation Eph 1:4, so exactly how were they children of wrath as others ? It was by their sins to begin with, and they sinned in Adam their Natural Father and Head, however the wrath they did deserve for their sin in Adam, and in themselves after they were born sinners, was directed to Christ because their sins were charged or imputed to Him and not them, and He thereby Propitiated God's wrath for them [their sins]. To propitiate means to pacify which means to:

to bring or restore to a state of peace or tranquility. To propitiate:

to make favorably inclined; appease; conciliate.

Christ's Death for their sins removes God's Wrath for them and inclines Him to receive them into His Favor, also means to reconcile them to God, into His Favor.

So all for whom He died, God has no wrath for them, its been exhausted [for them] upon Christ, so its impossible for any for whom He died to ever be under God's wrath as these here Jn 3:36; Rom 1:18; For that would mean the defect is in the Death of Christ or in His Blood, which is disrespectful as well as insulting to surmise for a split second ! But if they were never children of wrath as others, deserving of wrath, there would not have been a need for His Propitiating death for them !

Now can the Children of God also be the children of wrath ? Yes, they most certainly can be, just as an man's child can be the object of his wrath ! The elect are children of wrath BY NATURE because thereby they commit sins worthy of God's Wrath / Death as per Rom 1:32

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy or deserving of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

However the blessed thing with the Elect of God, God imputed that which made them worthy or deserving of Death, to the account of Christ !

Note : The Wrath that God poured on Christ for those He died for, is still considered an Chastisement as Per Isa 53:5

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Thats because, as vindictive as God's Judgment against their sins were, they were still Children of His Love, and Christ being their Elder Brother was Chastised in their stead. God chastens His Sons Heb 12:1-8

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

God never stop loving His Son the Lord Jesus Christ, not even when He Chastised Him for our Peace !

Note: That's why Christ's Death could not have been for the Children of the devil, for they were never considered as God's Sons or Children, their father is the devil Jn 8:44

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Pricked in the heart !

Pricked in the heart !

Acts 2:37

37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

This word pricked is the greek word katanussó and means:

met: I am pierced, stung, smitten.

This word pricked is an derivative of having been quickened or made alive.

The idea is that of being incited , to spur , stimulate, impel to action.

It denotes a Sovereign Work of the Holy Spirit convincing one of sin. In other words, having New Spiritual Life given resulted in a acute awareness of their hideous sin of unbelief in their consenting to the crucifixion of Christ ! Acts 2:22-23

22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

Similar to the unbelief Paul had when he was saul and persecuted the Church 1 Tim 1:13

13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

So the pricking of the heart on the day of pentecost of these souls, was the result of the Spirit quickening and then convincing them of their sin, and not believing on Christ Jn 16:8-10

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

Especially Vs 9

Thats what Acts 2:36-37 is all about. The Holy Spirit has begun a good work in them Phil 1:6 and is working in them a change of mind about whom they crucified.

We know this to be an effectual work of the Spirit propeliing New Life by seeing the fulfillment of the prophhecy of what was to occur following the out pouring of the Spirit of Grace Zech 12:10

10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

The word bitterness is the word marar and does mean:

become roused, which means to stir or incite, awake, and because of this awakening to bitterness they are seeking Spiritual Instruction, for they had already been made Spiritually alive which the words pricked in their indicates, when they asked in Vs 37 what shall we do ?

Note something else, the people here who had been convicted of their sinfulness, these people were not sinners such a fornicators, thieves, murderers, but very religious and devout sinners Acts 2:5

5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

Was not Saul of Taurus a Very devout religious sinner ? Only a Miracle of the Spirit of Grace working in us can convince us of our sinfulness and unbelief when we are very religious and devout in our flesh !

As one alive from the dead !

Rom 6:13

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

All men by nature, the elect and non elect are spiritually dead, which means :

"destitute of a life that recognizes and is devoted to God, because given up to trespasses and sins; inactive as respects doing right"

Its the equivalent to being alienated from the Life of God as here Eph 4:18

Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

In this condition, man cannot do nothing of any spiritual good, nothing that is spiritually right. Rom 3:9-12

9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

This is where Salvation that God gives through Jesus Christ is appreciated, for it is the equivalent to giving one life from the dead, a resurreted life from the dead. Rom 6:13 says , as one alive from ek out from among the dead. Its not until then, being made alive from the dead, can man make any act Godward !

If a man is found drowned to death, before he can make any attempt to do anything, he must first be given life from the dead. Thats how it is in Salvation, before a man can cooperate in his conversion experience, he must first be given life from the dead. His cooperating is only evidence that he had been given life.

So tell me, how is that forcing someone to take something against their will ? The Spiritual Life given them in order for them to cooperate in their conversion, was not forced on them, it was given them by a miracle of the Power and Grace of God, it was Life from among the dead. Remember Lazaruz whom Jesus raised from Life ? Lazaruz could not have responded to Jesus call unless Christ gave him life to respond, that was not forcing him to respond, but enabling him to respond !

In the Great day coming, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and do come out of their graves or tombs, how was this their coming to life an imposition on them against their wills , for their wills were dead !

All men by nature, our wills are dead to God, nothing short of being made alive can help us in that condition !

Children of Wrath as others ! 2

Children of Wrath as others ! 2

The Elect of God, those Chosen in Christ before the foundation Eph 1:4, they are BY NATURE, children of wrath even as others, others being the non elect obviously. Eph 2:3

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

That's key to understanding this verse, by nature were they children of wrath and not by appointment or destiny.

This means that even though they children of wrath BY Nature, they were never vessels of wrath who are so by destiny Rom 9:21-22

21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?

22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

They are fitted to destruction. What does fitted mean ? Its the word katartizō and means:

to render, i.e. to fit, sound, complete
to mend (what has been broken or rent), to repair
to complete
to fit out, equip, put in order, arrange, adjust
to fit or frame for one's self, prepare
ethically: to strengthen, perfect, complete, make one what he ought to be

The word also is in the passive / middle voice, meaning God is fitting them for destruction and so they follow the purpose and fit themselves for destruction, this is God's arrangement for them, because they are appointed to wrath whereas God's Chosen are not 1 Thess 5:9

9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

The Elect were never appointed to wrath as was the non elect and the vessels of wrath.

Neither are the Elect ever under God's Wrath at any time personally. Were they by nature as sinful as others in themselves ? Yes indeed, and most certainly were they just as worthy of wrath like these :

Eph 5:3-6

3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

But the Elect , by Nature are viewed by God as Vessels of Mercy instead of Vessels of Wrath Rom 9:23

23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

You see, the Vessels of Mercy and the Vessels of Wrath are Two different sets of People, but they are all by nature sinful ! One set for their sinfulness receive God's Mercy, the other set receives God's Wrath for their sinfulness.

Yes thats why they are called Vessels of Mercy, because by Nature they are as others sinful and ungodly as can be, but God's Mercy upon them is from Everlasting to Everlasting Ps 103:17.

So as children of wrath by nature, they are not objects of God's wrath, as others are who are as sinful as they, but who are the vessels of wrath, and they are just as worthy of it as the Vessels of Mercy are !

He that overcometh shall inherit all things !

He that overcometh shall inherit all things !

Rev 21:7

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

In the original its really he that is overcoming, present tense active !

Now exactly who is it that shall do this, be overcoming ? Why it is all for whom Christ died, all who are of the House He is building Heb 3:6

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

What Hope ? this one 1 Pet 1:3

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

That Hope, a Living one given us in New Birth which was by the Resurrection of Christ from having died for us, if we have that Hope !

Now Rev 21:7 is speaking of all those Christ died for, Joint Heirs with Him Rom 8:17, and He died for them as their Representative Head ! All for whom Christ died shall be overcoming, sin, satan, and the world, simply because Christ overcame them their enemies and gives them the Victory 1 Cor 15:57. When He did it, it was not as a private person, but as an Public represenative and head, for His Body the Church, and He inherits all things in their behalf, as their Head and Husband !

Jesus says here Jn 16:33

33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Jesus here in essence is saying to His Church, Be of good cheer, because I in behalf of you, have overcome the world. The word overcome here is in the perfect tense , meaning I have already overcome with results of it continuing on ! If the Head has overcome, then the Body must participate in that Victory ! Yes they shall take or have a part or share,in the overcoming Victory of their Prince !

He that overcometh shall inherit all things ! 2

He that overcometh shall inherit all things ! 2

Now He that died for our sins inherits all things, as the Proper Heir and Son of God, to whom all things belong Heb 1:2

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

The Son is clearly appointed Heir of All things , and the Son of God is the Head and Husband of the Church, His Body; so if He is the Rightful appointed Heir of all things, so is His Body and Wife the Church. This is seen also in Adam and Eve, who at their Creation were both the Rightful governors of the Earth, Heirs together.

If you recall , Paul wrote to the Church at Corinth this 1 Cor 3:21-23

21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's;

22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's;

23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

All Believers, The Wife of Christ, were Chosen in Him before the foundation, and by virtue of that fact, they were always Joint Heirs with Him Rom 8:17

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

This looks back to Heb 1:2

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

That means so were believers appointed Heirs with Him of all things ! That is what the word joint heirs mean

Now this Overcoming Victory that Christ obtained Jn 16:33 is given to all the Joint Heirs to Participate in, So Jesus identifies them by His saying here Rev 21:7

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

He that overcometh shall inherit all things ! 3

He that overcometh shall inherit all things ! 3

This overcoming Victory of Christ, the Head of the Church, His Body and Bride, is given [imparted] to all for whom He died, and abolished death; and since death for them is abolished See 2 Tim 1:10

10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

That word abolished means:

Who annulled death and made it of no effect

And since death for them is made of no effect, or annulled/canceled

He sends the good News of it to them by the Gospel, but before that, life is given to them, out of death which had been canceled, which Life comes by the Spirit who quickens in the Name of Christ, by giving New Birth or Spiritual Resurrection. Now being Born of the Spirit, of which Spirit Faith is a Fruit Gal 5:22, such Faith causes them to overcome as Per 1 Jn 5:4

4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Even Our Faith which comes from Being born of God !

And the Promise is that the Just shall live by Faith continuously, by His Faith given in New Birth, and so they shall be continuously overcomes, and so fulfill the Promise of Rev 21:7

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

So in essence, being a overcomer is the fruit and effect of Christ's death for all whom He died !

He that overcometh shall inherit all things ! 4

He that overcometh shall inherit all things ! 4

Notice also the promise of Rev 21:7 to the overcomers and Heirs of all things :7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

" I will be his God, and he shall be my son." Where have we seen this type promise promise before ?

Why that's New Covenant language Heb 8:6-12

6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Look at Vs 10 ? And if He is Our God, He is Our Father through the Lord Jesus Christ Jn 20:17

17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

And this New Covenant is founded upon and in Christ's Blood Matt 26:28

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Now remember who He is shedding His Blood for Acts 20:28

28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Yes, the Church Eph 5:25

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Thats who the Blood of the New Covenant is shed for, and So His Death is the cause of their overcoming as Per Rev 21:7

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

We are complete in Him !

We are complete in Him !

Col 2:10

10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

That is all who comprise the Church, Christ's Bride and Body, but also we [those who are True Believers] must understand that Christ is complete with us [His Body]

For just as Adam was not yet complete without His One Flesh companion Eve, neither is Christ yet complete without His Eve the Church ! This is a Great Mystery Eph 5:29-32

29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Eph 1:22-23

22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Notice, the word filleth here is the same greek word Paul used for complete in Col 2:10, which confirms that He makes His Body Complete, they are complete in Him their Head and Husband, and they make Him Complete, the fulness of HIM that filleth all in all !

Such a Truth as this should end any disbelief in the Security of His Wife , for if one member of her is lost, then His Body and Wife would be incomplete !

How do they receive the Gift of Eternal Life ?

How do they receive the Gift of Eternal Life ?

How do those Christ died for t receive the Gift of Eternal Life as Per Rom 6:23

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

They receive it by New Birth, or they receive it by Quickening, its not an offer for one to either accept it or reject it by their own freewill, no more as receiving natural life was ! Every last person Christ died for, as the Last Adam, and antithesis to the corruptible life they receive from him or because of him, because of the wages of sin which is death, So from the last Adam they receive Quickening from the dead which is Eternal Life, because He satisfied law and Justice for them or His Obedience unto death. 1 Cor 15:45

45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

45 Thus it is written, The first man Adam became a living being (an individual personality); the last Adam (Christ) became a life-giving Spirit [restoring the dead to life].

He was made a Life giving Spirit for all whom He died, because Eternal Life is through Him, Mediated by Him and effectively produced by Him. You see, their sin wages [death] has been abolished, and those whom God sees no sin charged unto them, no law violated, they by Justice must be given Life. They must be quickened from the dead Eph 2:1,5

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved )

If anyone tells us that the Gift of Eternal Life is an offer made available to everyone through Jesus Christ, rest assured they are false witnesses and witness a false gospel !

Again, the Gift of Eternal Life in received by being given a New Birth and or a Quickening from the Dead !

Faith and Repentance Given !

Faith and Repentance Given !

How does God/ Christ give or grant repentance ? Acts 5:31 and Acts 11:18. They are both resultant of the Saving Application of Salvation by the Spirit of God, as He applies the Saving benefits of Christ's Death in the New Birth. We know this because Peter referring to the Spirit falling on the Gentiles as He Preached to Cornelius, and relates that incident, they receiving the Spirit just as they did in the beginning, and recalling what Jesus said to them earlier in His Ministry with them, stated that God hath also granted the Gentiles Repentance unto Life Acts 11:15-18

15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them[Gentiles], as on us at the beginning.

16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

17 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

Peter therefore is attributing Repentance unto Life as a work of the Spirit ! Hence both Repentance and Faith are resultant of New Birth and or Regeneration !

A Believer by the Will of God !

A Believer by the Will of God !

2 Tim 1:1

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

All for whom Christ died, do become Believers and servants of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus.

It is written that King David served his generation by the will of God Acts 13:36

For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers,

Now this is True because its the testimony of the Apostle Paul, and if its true of him, as well as the other Apostles, then its True of all the gifted members of the Body of Christ. Let us remember that Apostleship is but a Gift to the Church, the Body of Christ Eph 4:8-16

8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

God has appointed all the members of His Body Pa 139:14-16

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

All are not called Apostles, but all are called for some type of role of function that is essential for the proper function and development of the Body !

So each God called Apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor teacher, come into their vocation by the same Sovereign will of God as Paul did 2 Tim 1:1, The Sovereign and Converting will of God, is just as effective in their lives as it was in Paul's and the other Apostles, and all the other gifted members of Christ's Body, all just as important to the body's function in serving the Will of God in their generation. Its just like how each of our own body members are required for proper function, which is Paul's point even here in 1 Cor 12.

Now even though the Apostle's role had more of a preeminent service to perform in the body of Christ, that did not diminish the importance of the lesser but vital roles of service for the other members of Christ's Body. Paul proves that point here 1 Cor 12:14-23

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?

20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary[indispensable]:

23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.

Christ just did not need the prominent members of His Body to function well, like the eyes, but it was needful also for the lesser parts to function like the finger. Christ as the Living Head brings all His Body members into living function for His Body; This begins with the Apostles to those who have the gift of helps, and all come into function with God given Faith, by the Will of God, according to the promise of Life in Christ, and they all can say as Paul did here Eph 3:7

7 Whereof I was made a minister[servant], according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

A Believer by the Will of God !2

A Believer by the Will of God !2

We once pointed out earlier that Believers come to be so by the Sovereign Will of God whereby they are made meet to execute their role in the body of Christ, as the Apostle did by the Will of God 2 Tim 1:1

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

Hence in order to be an Apostle He had to be a Believer, so both His Apostleship and Faith in Christ are according to the Will of God, as it is with each body member.

Another way of saying it is that we become believers and serve our role in the Body because of this Eph 1:11

11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Hence believers are made believers not according to their freewill, but according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will !

And this Will of God is according to the Promise of Life which is in Christ Jesus 2 Tim 1:1

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

Now what Promise of Life here does Paul mean ? This Life Titus 1:2

2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

Also John mentions it 1 Jn 2:25

25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

It is a Promise of Life Eternal made before the World Began. This Promise was made to the Son by the Father in Eternity, based upon the terms of the Everlasting Covenant f Grace Heb 13:20. This Promise of Life is referred to in type to David here in reward for the Son's Covenant Faithfulness Ps 89:1-4

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

2 For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.

3 I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,

4 Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.

Gill writes of Vs 4:

Thy seed will I establish for ever,.... Meaning not the natural seed of David, at least not only them; whose family was indeed preserved, though in very low circumstances, until the Messiah came, who sprung from thence, Luke 1:27, but the spiritual seed of Christ, to whom it was promised that he should have a seed, and should see and enjoy it, and which should endure for ever; see Psalm 89:29, and so he always has had a seed to serve him in all generations, in the worst of times, and will; and who are established in him, and will be kept and preserved by him, and whom he will present to his Father, saying, "Lo, I and the children whom thou hast given me", Hebrews 2:13.

and build up thy throne to all generations; and this shows that the passage is not to be understood literally of David, and of his temporal throne and kingdom, which did not last many generations; but of the spiritual throne and kingdom of the Messiah, who sprung from him, called the throne of his father David, whose throne is for ever and ever, and whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, Luke 1:32, Psalm 45:6, his throne is in the heavens, where he will reign until all enemies are put under his feet; and it is also in the midst of his church, and in the hearts of his people, where he reigns as King of saints; and he is on the same throne with his Father; it is the same with his, as to glory, power, and authority; on this he will sit, and judge the world at the last day; and on it he will reign with his people a thousand years, in the New Jerusalem state, and after that to all eternity, Revelation 3:21.

The Son secured Eternal Life promised for all the Father gave Him Jn 17:2

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life [as promised] to as many as thou hast given him.

These given Him were Chosen in Him before the foundation Eph 1:4 and they are His Spiritual Seed. This Eternal Life is again promised in type to Christ's Seed here Ps 89:27-36; The Promise is sure to all the Seed Rom 4:16

16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

And that's why and how believers become believers by the will of God and the Promise according to Life in Christ Jesus ! This Promise of Life in Christ Jesus is also equivalent to all those whose Names were written in the Lambs Book of Life, for they are the ones through Him, whom Life has been Promised to, those Given Him Jn 17:2

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Faith and Repentance Given !2

Faith and Repentance Given !2

When God gave His Son for those He Loved Jn 3:16; Eph 5:25, He along with Him, Gave them everything needed to make them converted into Believers Jn 3:16

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Rom 8:32

32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

The prep sun [with] denotes union ! Meaning in Union with the giving of Christ is other blessings to be bestowed upon those He gave Christ for.

And all is given in the same efficasious sense as the Son was given, for God did not offer to give His Son, or make available the option of giving Him, but He gave Him up as a Sacrafice ! 1 Cor 5:7

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

God would have been dumb and careless, not to have given with Christ, everything needed to bring them He died for into a saving Knowledge of Jesus Christ, Faith in His Blood !

And I know the God I serve was not that unwise and careless. What about yours ?

So Faith and Repentance are given along with Christ, to all for whom He died, His Elect the Israel of God Acts 5:31

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

The word give didōmi is the same word for gave in Jn 3:16 !

Owed Life !

Owed Life !

All for whom Christ died, are owed life ! Just as the wages for sin is death, well the wages of Righteousness is Life, through Jesus Christ ! Prov 11:19

As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

Prov 12:28

In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Christ's Imputed Righteousness effects Life ! 2 Cor 5:21

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Rom 4:6

6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

Rom 5:19

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

So all for whom Christ died are owed life. Now what exactly do I mean that those Christ died for are owed life ? They are owed life through what Christ did for them ! This is not a debt they deserve in and of themselves, but Christ was given life [as the resurrection proves] from the dead, in order to give it to them. Remember Jesus said this Jn 6:33

33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

This is based upon Him satisfying God's Law and Justice for them against sin, and imputing Righteousness to them, which Righteousness effects Life.

In fact, the Life was owed Him, because He did the Work, however He did it in behalf of those He died for !

So the Life God owes Him for His Covenantal Faithfulness, it is communicated through Christ unto all whom the Father gave Him Jn 17:2. Jesus Christ died as an substitute in behalf of and instead of many. His death for them was for the satisfaction of God's Law and Justice, for the guilt and punishment for all their sins, beginning with Adam: and this being true, death can no longer reign over them, and so Life must be granted and or restored were there is no transgression.

This Life is given by Divine quickening from the dead Eph 2:1,5, communicated from the last Adam to His Seed 1 Cor 15:45 by means of the Spirit. Yes its God's Justice and Truth to His Covenant Keeping Son, is that which demands that Life be given to all for whom He died, and so each of them should be quickened or Born Again !

The Gift of Righteousness !

The Gift of Righteousness !

Rom 5:17

17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ )

The word gift here dōrea:

denotes "a free gift," stressing its gratuitous character

Now false teachers would tell us that this Gift of Righteousness is something man can either accept it or reject it, as it is offered to them or made available: However nothing can be further away from the Truth, for this Gift of Righteousness is Received by all for whom Christ died by Imputation Rom 4:6, meaning that God out of Justice fully satisfied, reckons it theirs, based on Christ's Active Obedience on their behalf, along with satisfying all His Law and Justice.

God does see the Righteous Obedience of Christ as He lived in Obedience to the Law and will of God Ps 40:7-9; Heb 10:7 and as He obeyed God in all things, in word, thought and deed, this Righteousness as a Free Gift is graciously imputed to the account of all for whom He died and acted in behalf of.

So this Gift is received not by a literial offering of making it available, but its a Gift in that its Graciously laid to their account before the Law and Justice of God's Holy Throne, and this while thy themselves are ignorant of it, and while they themselves by nature are rebels and enemies ! That's why it's a Gift that is not deserved, because it applies to their account even while they are being ungodly !
