Are there any gardeners out there?

If so, what did you plant this year and do you have the weather for a fall garden?

The hubby is planting our fall greens this weekend. Mmm turnip and mustard greens. Sorry, I wondered off a bit. :p

God gave us so many wonderful things we can plant and grow. What do y'all like to grow?

Dude! I'm from St. Louis! Raised in NW County! Woo hoo.

So, where did you go to high school? LOL

I prefer to harvest, can and then eat. I love canning. I don't know why, it just makes me feel so very accomplished! LOL

My thing is heirlooms. I found the best place to get heirloom seeds, right there in Missouri! I don't want to break any rules so if anyone wants to find them, just google heirloom seeds and they come up.

This was a bad year for almost everything, and then I had a neighbor eating all my tomatoes. Smh Oh well, if she was hungry and needed them, I cannot complain. :)

I live in the Willamette Valley (Oregon) and it's been hot and dryer than normal. Still, we have an abundance of squash, tomatoes, and peppers. Didn't really do much else this year, but had a lot of blackberries we had to freeze up....oh, and apples and plums.

My blackberries did real good. Oh, I'm in Tennessee, just outside of Memphis.

Spring lasted way longer than usual this year. We didn't get anything into the ground until late. My poor blueberries gave me enough for one pancake. Smh.

The okra is happy and still producing. The purple hull peas did as they always do and I got a freezer full! I only managed a couple zucchinis and the crook necks didn't do as well as I wanted, but I did manage to get some chow chow made for the hubby. Some of the stuff I planted didn't even come up. Sad, I really wanted eggplant this year. :(

Oh and the weird spring killed two of my prettiest rose bushes. Blight got em. Couldn't seem to get rid of it.

I am a gardener too.

I have been changing around my landscaping and the plants year after year. It all started about 15 years ago.

I live in Texas and we don't have good soil, so it is not easy to grow plants or vegies.

You must have tons of bees! Do you freeze the blackberries on sheets, or just throw them all in? I want to freeze raspberries and strawberries.

I have been blessed, we have good dirt and the hubby knows how to make it better. His people were farmers. My grandpa was a commercial popcorn grower. :)

We do have tons of bees...they seem to love the big Russian Sage plant the best, though. We have to walk through a swarm just to get in the front door. I just throw the berries in a freezer bag because I use them in my smoothies. We have one raspberry bush, but the grandkids keep it pretty picked clean. Oh, and we buy several crates of strawberries from up the road and make freezer jam. I keep saying we should have made more.

I no longer have a garden :(

I used to have a cottage with a large wild garden, I planted 36 Roses all colours, shapes and sizes...some as big as saucers :)

Tell me more, meshak. Sounds like I just may be impatient.

I was just too fickle. When I found out I planted in wrong place I moved them around.

I did not study about the plants. When I see a pretty plants, I just buy them without knowing much about them.

Now I know them pretty well after killing tons of them.

BTW, nursery workers don't know much about the plants either.

So we have to experiment ourselves.

Oh I love making jam! And pickles. I got carried away two summers ago and pickled up about 60 pints of pickles. I was running the hubby ragged, making him go to the store for more jars! LOL
