Martyrdom: What say ye?

Ever since I was little child in Sunday school I agonized over stories of Christian Martyrs dying gladly in Roman Arenas, torn apart by wild beasts. I knew then and I know now that I wouldn't do it.
But I stood up to the plate to defend children in danger at great risk to myself.
This is a troublesome subject for me.

God will never allow us to be tempted above our ability to bear it...He is well able to deliver us.

But Corrie ten Boom says rightly that the strength to face these things come when we need it, we shouldn't run ahead of God.

I don't know if I am able, Peter thought he was able but he quailed at the interrogation of a damsel.

Those particular martyrs? my, but the church was awful backslid by the middle of the second century.

There is no evidence of anyone other than James and Stephen being martyred in the Jerusalem church, no evidence that Paul was and certainly none that Peter was.

I tend to not worry about it.
Not because there aren't people in today's world seeking out Christians to slaughter.

But because if we treat Paul's words as an admonition from the Holy Spirit, then God has called us not to worry about anything.

Of course, any discussion of martyrdom can go hand in hand with a discussion of persecution, and the United States has yet to see a day of real persecution of Christians by someone other than other Christians.

WASPs in particular have been remarkably immune to persecution on this side of the Atlantic...probably because they tend to make up most of the groups doing the persecuting.

Do I need to repost muslims(ISIS) buring a Christian alive in cage?

No....and actually I believe my generation may face martyrdom...in myself I know I am not brave.

So either God will provide an escape [for which there are promises] or else He will supply in the hour of need inner strength.

I DEFINITELY am not relying on myself.

Today, in our multi-immoral culture anything goes. Most of the loud mouthed, vulgar chest thumping, excrement tossing, rioters are not WASPS!

Paul said from now on we regard no one according to the flesh (and your performance). That incudes the Lord Jesus Christ when he was in the flesh. If you fail, so what. He remains faithful when you are faithless, he cannot deny himself.

I think you're probably selling yourself short. If you had seen Jesus or learned from his disciples, or had friends/relatives who swore by everything that their experiences with Jesus/his followers were real, you'd die for your faith.

Everybody has to die someday. What's the point in being scared of the inevitable?

There is alive today a very great Chinese pastor who suffered 20 years in hard labour camps was tortured, his wife was tortured and finally he broke.

He recanted....and they let him out

But he was so miserable about it that he recanted his recantation and went preaching again and was imprisoned again....

...it is true that God will remain faithful to us.

That's heartbreaking

Notice that I didn't say anything about loud-mouthed, vulgar, chest-thumping, excrement-tossing rioters.
Those come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and political orientations.

I said "they tend to make up most of the groups doing the persecuting."

ACTUAL persecution, as in actively depriving people of their rights and/or inflicting violence upon them, has really only taken one organized form in recent United States history.

And what did the k's stand for?
Kike
Koon
Katholic
And they probably should have had another K for "Krosshairs," because each of the above represented a group of people targeted for persecution.

So basically, anyone not white and not Protestant.
I say "recent history," because prior to about a century ago, persecution of those groups and anyone else not a WASP was the social norm across the country.

That many non-Anglo-Saxon whites joined up doesn't reduce my point that WASPs have managed to dodge most of the persecution which has happened in this country, and judging by the original list of groups persecuted by the Klan, it doesn't take much to extrapolate the origins of at least the people in charge of it.

So, you do have the guts it takes to stand up for someone else.

When Christ tells us to take up our cross, He will give us the means to do it.

I don't say this lightly either, bybee.

Keep watching and reading about the martyrs for Christ. I gain strength and conviction when doing so.

These are excellent videos for adults and older kids:

My dear, I am not afraid to die! I am afraid of suffering. But I am in God's hands and live accordingly.

MARTYRDOM WILL ONLY BE FOR THE MIDDLE EASTERN LANDS.

ESPECIALLY DURING THE 2ND HALF OF THE TRIBULATION

That may be beginning in 2021 and ending in 2024 .

Me neither. I freaked out when a bat got in the house. Yikes.

I know full well the Lord will keep me and help me bear whatever comes my way. Sufficient the day is the evil thereof.

Matthew 6:34
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
