I'm making light of nothing!
You have NOTHING but anecdotal stories of people here and there experiencing some issues with the vaccine. There was never anyone who ever expected that there be ZERO issues with the vaccines. There are people who have complications and there are so called "break through" cases of covid19 all of which is perfectly normal and totally expected.
That does not change the fact that these vaccines work and are very very very safe. If automobiles were as safe as these vaccines, there'd be no such thing as seat belts. If getting into a swimming pool was as safe as these vaccines, you'd have never heard of any such thing as a life guard. These vaccines are statistically safer than ANY surgical procedure you name!
Not only are they safe but they are almost totally effective! In fact, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been 100% effective at preventing hospitalization due to a COVID infection. That's right! Almost no one who has been fully vaccinated has had to go to the hospital because of a break through case of COVID 19 and those that have,
the science says, were likely infected BEFORE getting the shots.
However! Just so that you don't think I'm ignoring the data and "making light" of something. Here's something that you'd read and instantly think "SEE! I told you so!"...
From the report linked to above...
However, 12% (211) showed symptoms 15-21 days after vaccination and 29% (526) more than 21 days after vaccination. These cases could be due to vaccination failure, meaning that the vaccine failed to provide the person with immunity. The team emphasized that this was not an unexpected finding, as the vaccines were not 100% effective, and that the absolute numbers of vaccinated people being admitted to hospital 21 days after their first dose were “tiny.”
So, once again, the vaccines are not a panacea nor has anyone ever suggested that they are. They are, however, one hell of a lot better than COVID 19 and your fear of them is not founded in anything related to reason, science or common sense.
