Is Fascism Right Or Left?

Here's a quote from Friedrich Hayek's book The Road to Serfdom. He is quoting F. A. Voight from page 95 of his book Unto Ceasar published in 1939.
Similarly a British writer, Mr. F. A. Voigt, after many years of close observation of developments in Europe as a foreign correspondent, concludes that "Marxism has led to Fascism and National-Socialism, because, in all essentials, it is Fascism and National Socialism".
Again quoted from The Road to Serfdom Hayek quotes Walter Lippmann saying the following about socialism:

the generation to which we belong is now learning from experience what happens when men retreat from freedom to a
coercive organisation of their affairs. Though they promise themselves a more abundant life, they must in practice renounce
it; as the organised direction increases, the variety of ends must give way to uniformity. That is the nemesis of the planned
society and the authoritarian principle in human affairs. Atlantic Monthly, November 1936, p. 552.

Another quote from The Road to Serfdom

The complete collapse of the belief in the attainability of freedom and equality through Marxism [writes Mr. Peter
Drucker2 ] has forced Russia to travel the same road towards a totalitarian, purely negative, non-economic society of
unfreedom and inequality which Germany has been following. Not that communism and fascism are essentially the same.
Fascism is the stage reached after communism has proved an illusion, and it has proved as much an illusion in Stalinist
Russia as in pre-Hitler Germany. The End of Economic Man, 1939, p. 230

And the last quote from The Road to Serfdom.

While "progressives" in this country and elsewhere were still deluding themselves that communism and fascism represented opposite poles, more and more people began to ask themselves whether these new tyrannies were not
the outcome of the same tendencies. Even communists must have been somewhat shaken by such testimonies as that of Mr. Max Eastman, Lenin's old friend, who found himself compelled to admit that "instead of being better, Stalinism is worse than fascism, more ruthless, barbarous, unjust, immoral, anti-democratic, unredeemed by any hope or scruple", and that it is "better described as superfascist"; and when we find the same author recognising that "Stalinism is socialism, in the sense of being an inevitable although unforeseen political accompaniment of the nationalisation and collectivisation which he had relied upon as part of his plan for erecting a classless society", his conclusion clearly achieves wider significance.
pp 27 and 28 The Road to Serfdom

There is no doubt that socialism and fascism are closely related. They are on the same side of the political spectrum.

If we go read Mussolini's Fascist Manifesto

Contents of the Fascist Manifesto

The Manifesto (published in Il Popolo d'Italia on June 6, 1919) is divided into four sections, describing the movement's objectives in political, social, military and financial fields.[2]

Politically, the Manifesto calls for:

  • Universal suffrage with a lowered voting age to 18 years, and voting and electoral office eligibility for all ages 25 and up;
  • Proportional representation on a regional basis;
  • Voting for women (which was then opposed by most other European nations);
  • Representation at government level of newly created national councils by economic sector;
  • The abolition of the Italian Senate (at the time, the Senate, as the upper house of parliament, was by process elected by the wealthier citizens, but were in reality direct appointments by the king. It has been described as a sort of extended council of the crown);
  • The formation of a national council of experts for labor, for industry, for transportation, for the public health, for communications, etc. Selections to be made of professionals or of tradesmen with legislative powers, and elected directly to a general commission with ministerial powers.
In labor and social policy, the Manifesto calls for:

  • The quick enactment of a law of the state that sanctions an eight-hour workday for all workers;
  • A minimum wage;
  • The participation of workers' representatives in the functions of industry commissions;
  • To show the same confidence in the labor unions (that prove to be technically and morally worthy) as is given to industry executives or public servants;
  • Reorganization of the railways and the transport sector;
  • Revision of the draft law on invalidity insurance;
  • Reduction of the retirement age from 65 to 55.
In military affairs, the Manifesto advocates:

  • Creation of a short-service national militia with specifically defensive responsibilities;
  • Armaments factories are to be nationalized;
  • A peaceful but competitive foreign policy.
In finance, the Manifesto advocates:

  • A strong progressive tax on capital (envisaging a “partial expropriation” of concentrated wealth);
  • The seizure of all the possessions of the religious congregations and the abolition of all the bishoprics, which constitute an enormous liability on the Nation and on the privileges of the poor;
  • Revision of all contracts for military provisions;
  • The revision of all military contracts and the seizure of 85 percent of the profits therein.
These early positions reflected in the Manifesto would later be characterized by Mussolini in "The Doctrine of Fascism" as "a series of pointers, forecasts, hints which, when freed from the inevitable matrix of contingencies, were to develop in a few years time into a series of doctrinal positions entitling Fascism to rank as a political doctrine differing from all others, past or present."[3]

Those on the left do/support despicable things that they believe are good things and then accuse us on the right of doing those very things as though they in fact despicable.

It's a twisted world but they do it ON PURPOSE. Such double mindedness does not exist in them by accident or because of some mental disorder. It is intentional. It is a tactic. It works because, fifty years ago, we scoffed at the notion that the left was taking over our education system, the press and mass media.

The left is very definitely in the process of aggressively turning this country into the opposite of what it was intended to be. It is an internal attack by no less than what must be understood as an internal enemy. To this day, there isn't anywhere near the sort of public outrage against the left that is necessary to defeat them. Not even close! They are winning and they will continue to win so long as we keep playing by the rules that they feel free to break. The aggressor sets the terms of any battle and so long as we are content to let them lie, cheat, steal, assault, murder and pillage while we sit back and wait for some judge to come to our rescue by rule of the laws that the left gleefully ignores then we will continue to enable their victory. The left is willing to do whatever it takes to win and unless we adopt a similar footing, they will do so, if they haven't already.

Agreed.
