If it was your faith, it gives occasion to boast!

Yes, and not only that Sister, Christ not only died for us, but lived for us as well. The elect had not only transgressed Gods law and justice of punishment was due, but we owed a debt of perfect obedience to Gods law, obeying every holy precept, summed up in Matt 22:37-40

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Folks this Law has been fulfilled for Gods Elect by Christ, this is righteousness of the law also Rom 8:3-4

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Remember the doers of the Law shall be Justified Rom 2:13

13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

Now all the elect of God are the doers of the Law, no not in themselves, but in and by the Faithfulness of Jesus Christ !

Absolutely Brother, see my post #57.

The reason why I emphasized His Death here was to bring attention to His Suretyship for all God's Elect which were Justified from Everlasting by Christ the Lamb Slain from the foundation of the world Rev. 13:8. We know that God has never laid one sin on His Elect because He laid them all on Christ Is. 53:6.

God never intended Life by man keeping the Law, but intended their Mediator Head and Surety Heb. 7:22 keep it for them Rom. 5:19b.

Now all the elect of God are the doers of the Law, no not in themselves, but in and by the Faithfulness of Jesus Christ !

Amen ! So all who were blessed to have Christ as their Surety, when He Lived and Died in their stead, all Righteousness was fulfilled in them by Imputation.

I have discussed that and answered that in this thread, have you read it completely ?

You're a liar. You've not answered the question I asked you. Since you can't answer, when you are asked, the question I asked you, then why would I waste my time reading the rest of your ravings in this thread?

Paul warned the Gentiles about the boasting of Faith, as if their faith was of themselves and so they believed instead of the unbelieving jews who were cut off, observe Rom 11:17-20

17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.

20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

Many of the natural jews were broken off because of unbelief, and many gentiles were being grafted in [coming to faith n Christ], and so they stand by Faith. But the faith they stood by wasnt their own Faith, it was God given Faith, so they had no reason to boast over the unbelieving jews.

Its the same thing when one person believes their personal faith, believing in Christ made the difference in them being saved or lost, versus another person who didnt make a personal decision to believe in Christ. Man naturally doesnt see that as a boast, but it is the deceivableness of unrighteousness Paul writes about in 2 Thess 2:10

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Amen Brother !

Before any person is Spiritually regenerated / born again, whether jew or Gentile, he doesn't have the ability to believe on Christ, or stand in Faith Rom. 11:20; neither is he commanded to believe, because as a lost unregenerate person, he can't believe the Gospel because it's hid from him.

2 Cor 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

So he can only boast in his own faith of the flesh and mind.

But scripture says that those in the flesh cannot please God Rom. 8:8 !

However, the ones standing by Faith in Rom. 11:20, have been Gifted with Faith / Believing Gal. 5:22 as the result of being Spiritually regenerated in New Birth.

It's these exclusively: Saved jews and Saved Gentiles that constitute the Good Olive Tree; the Israel of God, Christ's Body Eph. 1:4 that was Promised Salvation Is. 45:17 !

Although it is our faith that saves us, we are NOT the authors of said faith: God is. Clearly stated in the OP and defended nicely throughout this thread. If we have any faith it's from God, The Author and Finisher of that faith. He gave us the gift of repentance. He gave us the gift of grace. It was His Faith that He also gave us that caused us to believe. Without Him we are nothing. Without His Faith we are lost. Without His Grace we're hopeless. Without His Repentance we're un-regenerate. The faith to believe Him for His Grace is NOT of ourselves, or we'd be able to boast: "I'm saved because I'm smarter than you, that makes me a better person than you." Every Christian knows that we deserve nothing but judgement for our sins. God's Faith grants us grace in His Presence now and forevermore. :thumb:

Eph 2:8-9

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

The 'not of works' is the purification works of the law the people used to have to do.
It is not of those works anymore because Jesus purifies us now by just our having faith that he does.

Now I know many people are going to try to explain this truth away with an argument from the greek, but it doesn't matter, because this passage which involves Faith in the matter of Salvation is plainly stating that it is not of ourselves. That's true because Salvation is not of ourselves, and Faith in Salvation is accompanied with Salvation, they are not separate. Paul wrote the Thessalonians saying 2 Thessalonians 2:13
But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

Salvation here is " Sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the Truth" What is interesting and important here is that the word belief here isn't the customary verb, but the noun pistis which means:

conviction of the truth of anything, belief; in the NT of a conviction or belief respecting man's relationship to God and divine things, generally with the included idea of trust and holy fervour born of faith and joined with it
relating to God
the conviction that God exists and is the creator and ruler of all things, the provider and bestower of eternal salvation through Christ
relating to Christ
a strong and welcome conviction or belief that Jesus is the Messiah, through whom we obtain eternal salvation in the kingdom of God
the religious beliefs of Christians
belief with the predominate idea of trust (or confidence) whether in God or in Christ, springing from faith in the same
fidelity, faithfulness
the character of one who can be relied on

And it's translated Faith 239 times.

We are saved by Sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the Truth, which is Faith. So Faith in Salvation is not our own but by Sanctification of the Spirit.

If we deny this and say faith was our own faith, we begin boasting about our own work!

Jesus sanctifies/purifies us of the sin we repent of doing.

Jesus doesn't save people who don't have faith.

So there goes your theory.

Jesus tells us he saves those who have faith.

Paul says many Jews were cut off because they didn't have faith, and then he warns the Gentiles to be careful because they can be cut off too.
