I just hear this: Why was Satan told to partake of the ground?

That isn't the point of that verse. He doesn't tell us everything and he is not obliged to tell us everything. Anyway, I find his very short video very compelling.

I enjoyed the video and it is pretty much how I evaluate things in Genesis 3.

I do have a question for you about your comment above; however, I may misunderstand your exact point: "That isn't the point of that verse. He doesn't tell us everything and he is not obliged to tell us everything."

QUESTION: Then why are we told that the Spirit in us will teach us things of God?

I think the Spirit In Us will reveal things to believers if we are sincerely seeking, at least, when it is his will for things to be revealed.

The message above this one is also to you Nick M:

For anyone checking in on this thread and inquiring about WHAT VERSE and making things more clear, this is the best answer I can give. BTW, your post disappeared... I'll stop ignoring you if you will just be polite... That doesn't mean I expect you to agree with anything I write ... just saying.

ANSWER:
I had been talking to Derf about who asked the question in Psalm 82:2?
He said God asked it of humans who were not being good judges on earth.
I said it was 'one of the gods gathered in the assembly' - and I have concluded specifically it was Satan who was pleading his defense before God his judge.

Derf and I had also discussed my comments about 'that old serpent/Satan' having been commanded to partake of the dust of the ground for the rest of his life in Genesis 3.

Now Nick, politely chimed in and said: "That isn't the point of that verse. He (God) doesn't tell us everything and He is not obliged to tell us everything."

Nick then also added a very interesting video about the meanings of the ancient words used to mention the identity of 'that snake' in the Garden.

Now, Nick did not pin point the exact verse he had in mind which prompted his statement above; so, I could not go into details about a specific one ... so, I mostly addressed this part of his remark: "He (God) doesn't tell us everything and is not obliged to tell us everything."

I loved the video Nick shared and felt it could match up with what I believe about Satan and I agree with his statement above ... God is not obliged to tell us everything." Yet, I do believe God does reveal lots of things to individuals when he choses through the Holy Spirit which Christ left us.

Nick, come back and perhaps help me give you a better answer.

Specifically what Moses wrote, about how God keeps things to himself. We might not have the answer. If we don't, let it go.

I actually think I wrote the correct response to you but "someone" chimed in and then erased his/her comment... it was that person to whom I was replying. If that person had not deleted their post things would have been less confusing.

Okay you were talking about how Moses wrote, about how God keeps things to himself. We might not have the answer. If we don't. let it g

I agree: Our God is a secretive God ... I agree we don't know everything, but I believe in seeking ... for when he is ready he will open our eyes to new things.

Let me tell you how I learned that Heaven is in us through the power of the spirit in us. God is very close to us. Here goes.

I was sitting in church. A soloists was singing a beautiful song. Frankly I don't remember the song because something so unusual happened to me during it.

I closed my eyes and began to earnestly pray. I was asking our Lord to show up in some wonderful way to convince everyone in our sanctuary that he was alive and was near and was able to appear. I was suggesting raising the light level so high that people would know they had seen a miracle and go forth to share what they had seen our Lord do... etc. Suddenly I was seeing a vision. There was no sanctuary... no soloist standing down front ... no choir ... not pastor ... no one around me. It was like a spiritual window had opened and I was seeing into another realm. The scene was black except it also was light everywhere. If you have ever seen an old movie projector cast its light in a dark room and the particles of dust lite up all around you ... that is what it was like. There also were no walls ... except I knew their was an invisible plain upon which one could stand. Reminded me of a stage with dark floors and dark walls where only an actor would perform.

Well, a person did show up. She wore a mid-calf grey flannel flowing dress. I can't remember if she was barefoot or just had on soft dancing slippers but she was dancing on that plain to the song I was hearing. Since then I've only guessed who she might have been Of course, I want her to have been my mother. ??? But I do know when the song stopped she disappeared.

I looked over at my husband and asked him if I had just fallen asleep or something. He said, "No."

Well, the miracle I wanted to happen so everyone would know our Lord was near didn't happen for everyone ... but My Lord let me know how close he and I were. The spirit in me let me know he could hear the music I was hearing and he was willing to open my eyes and let me see someone heavenly dancing to it.

All I know is that now, "I know that I know. Now I comprehend what it means when it is said, 'Because he is in me I am in him.'" I also trust that when we seek him earnestly and seek to understand things he is sometimes willing.
