I have lived most of my life in a big city (Chicago), and I have realized that the closer people are packed together, the more important anonymity becomes. It's not that people in cities are any more or less unkind or friendly than anywhere else, it's that privacy becomes very important to people who live only one wall away from their neighbor.One of many reasons that I don't like living in cities.
