When Paul and his companions spoke to some women who gathered for prayer in Philippi, 'The Lord opened Lydia's heart to respond to Paul's message' (Acts 16:14). She could not have responded if the Lord had not opened her heart.

Hey! Wake up! Lydia was already found praying with other women. So what were you saying she needed to have her heart opened by God? It would be more accurate to say God gave her understanding because He could. She was ready to receive it. Seems you might have a way yet to go __ for somethings God would have you to understand.

How to you get general vs effectual call out of John 17:2?

Lydia already worshipped God if you actually read the verse you quoted, so how does this support your POV that God HAD to open her heart. IMO, you confuse the metaphorical with the literal here. Lydia already believed in God, albeit probably not with a lot of understanding or teaching as she was at a place of prayer, not teaching.
