Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth

If you read this thread you will see that Tet has juked, jived, and spoken in vague generalities. I will reason out of the scriptures so that there will be no question what rightly dividing the word of truth is.

James mentioned the word of truth.

James 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Okay, let's see when this happened.

Leviticus 23:16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

Leviticus 23:17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.

At Pentecost. Let's find out why Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, according to this "the word of truth".

Acts 2:30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

According to this "the word of truth", Christ was raised to sit on David's throne.

Paul mentioned the word of truth.

Colossians 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Okay, the word of truth Paul refers to is the gospel that he preached.

What is it?

Romans 4:24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

According to this "the word of truth", Jesus Christ was raised again for the justification of his Body.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, on to 2 Timothy 2

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

In order to approved unto God as a workman, we have to study in order to rightly divide the word of truth.

How?

2 Timothy 2:7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

2 Timothy 2:8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

According to Paul, why was Christ raised from the dead?

2 Timothy 2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rightly dividing the word of truth is to separate out the gospel (of your salvation) that Paul preached and make it manifest as the only way for salvation today. If you put in remembrance the things Paul said, you will not subvert the hearers by mixing Paul's message with other messages found in the Bible. You will not tell people to repent and be baptized for the remission of sins. You will not tell people that those who fear God and work righteousness are accepted with him. You will not be a fruit inspector. You will preach that Christ died for your sins and rose again for your justification, give up on yourself and trust him completely. And rest.

I will never stop making Paul's gospel manifest, it's the only hope for mankind today. That's what rightly dividing the word of truth is all about, not adding a little of this from the four gospels or subtracting a little of that from Hebrews-Revelation.

You see what kind of onslaught you get from the religious crowd when we proclaim Paul's gospel without perversion, and magnify his office as the Apostle of the Gentiles, but the word of God is not bound and the Lord knoweth them that are his.

:up:

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

2 Timothy 3:12-14 KJV Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
