Col 1:12-15

12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Notice Vs 12, Paul acknowledges who the saved should give thanks to for making them meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light, which means, they are going to heaven.

The inheritance Paul refers to here is no doubt the same one Peter writes of here 1 Pet 1:3-4

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Also wrote of by the writer of Hebrews 9:15

And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

The same as Paul mentions for the church Acts 20:32

And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

Now its God who is to be thanked in making us meet for this heavenly inheritance. The word meet in Col 1:12 is the greek word hikanoó and means:

I make sufficient, render fit, qualify.

God the Father has done everything for chosen sinners, He chose in Christ before the foundation, that by Christ, everything necessary has been provided to redeem them and qualify them for heaven.
