I am certain that Genesis 3:14 is a parable, but it makes you wonder why there was in fact a serpent with legs. Perhaps there is more to the parable than what meets the eye. Some parables are partially fact.

Males of some species, such as anacondas, still retain tiny appendages where their hind legs would be. And some lizards are legless. Perhaps Genesis tapped into the true evolutionary history of snakes
