You can try, and invariably fail, to follow Him per Israel's Gospels.
You can and should follow Him according to the revelation of the mystery.
Paul says no one today can do the first, and all should do the second.

No one can do it since the temple is destroyed, but it wasn't yet destroyed when Paul wrote.
