Salvation, Faith are One Unified whole. So no matter how the false believers and enemies of Righteousness attempt to pervert the Gift of God, this verse stands here as a testimony against them, that Faith in Salvation is not of ourselves, but the Gift of God, so we cannot boast, but yet in still that's exactly what they do with Faith in this verse, make it their own and boast as to that's why they are saved opposed to one who is not ! Their so called made the difference, and that's boasting !
It is impossible for anyone to please God before the New Birth:
"So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God." -Rom. 8:8
9 And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.
10 And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
13 And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?
14 Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
15 Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.
that which is or has been uttered by the living voice, thing spoken, word any sound produced by the voice and having definite meaning
speech, discourse what one has said
a series of words joined together into a sentence (a declaration of one's mind made in words) an utterance
a saying of any sort as a message, a narrative 1c
concerning some occurrence
subject matter of speech, thing spoken of so far forth as it is a matter of narration
so far as it is a matter of command
a matter of dispute, case at law
So the Lord Jesus Christ without question teaches the necessity of a Spiritual Birth in order to the Hearing of Faith, and man by nature, in the flesh cannot have or experience the hearing of faith, because only being in the flesh he hath not been born of the Spirit [God] !
Now this can be debated and denied until the world ends, but the Truth of it shall stand, and by the Grace of God I will proclaim it and defend it with scripture !

You declare the Truth!
Hearing is a result of having life.
New Life is accomplished only when the Spirit indwells a person in the New Birth.
Then they can hear God's Words because they have been made spiritually alive;
they are the Sheep of God.
John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me
John 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
So before the New Birth, the only hearing ability one has is in the flesh, and that can never please God:
Romans 8:5-8
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

May the Lord continue to bless you, for you have a heart for the Truth, very rare !
beloved
And may the Lord continue to bless you also for your persistent witness of the Truth.
For He is the One who gives His People a new heart, by His Grace alone.
And His Death alone is the Perfect Accomplishment in His Salvation of them.
All Praise and Glory to our God and Saviour Jesus Christ!
