Shalom! Both faith and obedience are desired. Do you know about the obedience of faith or the obedience that is by faith? Shalom. Jacob.
Faith alone is desired. Your obedience is worthless.

The obedience of faith was part of Paul's message. Many try to pit Paul who focused on faith alone against James who preached works even to the point of saying they were two different gospels. The doctrine of faith alone excludes all human works as a means of attaining justification, it does not mean the believer produces no works at all. The believers works come from the Spirit while the unbelievers works come from the flesh. Both groups produce works, one is acceptable and the other is not.
Shalom. If we are discussing what a person does, they either do good and right or they do wrong and what it evil. We either obey God obeying God's commands or we do not. You are correct that the Bible talks about how works do not justify, though good works are a part of the believer's life. In Abraham's life it was that as a result of the works faith was made perfect, or perfected. Obedience, or to obey, in regard to God and our parents, those who are our leaders, government authorities, we are to obey them as we are commanded in Torah and in the Bible. We are not to sin. So we are not to ever command anyone to sin. Neither should anyone else. Shalom. Jacob.
The Holy Spirit is our guide not the Torah. You are under the curse of the law.
Shalom. Are you familiar with Romans 8:4 from Romans 8:1-4? Shalom. Jacob.
The Love of Christ (agape) is fulfilled in us who walk by the Spirit.
