17th: while the pace of the intro may have been too slow or soft for some, at least the radio scan scene on his drive to the city was a quick montage of the things thrown at us.

So far, the script has not identified anything (actions by any of the family) as Christian or otherwise. No 'placed' Bibles etc... This stretches out the secular viewer potential.

(sorry I have to go and take care of a family call)

One other production feature was how well the framing matched the mood on tights and conversations.

DAYSTAR MOVIE OF THE WEEK (DirecTV 369)

CLANCY
Drama, 2007
A runaway changes the life of a bad-tempered homeless vet who must now shelter her from the machinations of a corrupt mayor.

Discuss any angle of it here during the program, theology to sound production!

9th: a bit of overacting by the corrupt mayor
14th: orchestral! yay!
16th: about 20 supportings so far, which is great to see

20th: music turned a bit muzak
21st: overall production values are very high for 2007
30th: the mayor did better in this scene and his casting was pretty much right on for this one. He had a stretch of unnatural lip movement when he was angry back in the office

34th: the vet casting is perfect. There was a spot with the police chief that needed a few more takes because the pace got off

47th: Clancy is a bit too clean and kept for 3 days on the street

52nd: some action scenes were a bit too polished (baseball stadium). Clancy's prayers are getting a bit tedious. It was nice at first, but too familiar too quickly.

59th: slight mechanical problem: why go to get water from an abandoned well when you had just been at a pond or river?

69th: the depth of the secrets is what makes a film great--the Desert Storm scene.

90th: the summary of the Bible is great. Yet one of the really good features of this film is how the person who is negative or unhappy, can never see how others with BETTER circumstances can be happy. The myth is that everyone around them has to be unhappy, that unhappiness is always dominant even in the best of circumstances.

100th: nice plot twist against the mayor and police chief, compared to the dozen twists of 2-3 weeks ago.

104th: overall the pair of mains is more photogenic than Clancy is by herself.

20th: top quality acting and orchestral, a difficult subject, great secondary issues brought up. Anger at God has many forms.

31st: the music video was a little too cozy. It's best if it does not get ingrown and too familiar.

38th: excellent matching music this time. This actress was top quality when the moment was the worst.

44th: the couple sort of has it too good, and as Dr. Prager says, we have to know how to handle dissappointment as children or else it will really undo us as adults.

It is too easy to identify one experience with 'God' but in a way that sort makes an idol of that experience.

Too bad for me to miss last week's feature by Jefferson Moore (PERFECT STRANGER), but today's feature is coming soon.
