Last time I checked, he wasn't posting about who was where, doing what with whomever. It's just not normal to have such morbid fascination with people one doesn't know, as you and res do. I'm sure there are other people on here who watch others, but at least they have the good sense not to advertise their obsessions.

I do glance at the list of logged on members because it is always there on the left of the active threads list. Because I'm rarely interested. In fact, if you eliminated the comparatively rare response to one of the trolls who generate threads and posts about me and what I think you wouldn't be left with many posts from me about them. Conversely, you could fill up a lot of space with their inference or reference or direct address. And yes, it's a bit odd.

We ALL post in threads by people we don't know. We DON'T all lurk in 'Who's Online' or hang around checking to see which strangers are posting in which strangers' threads, or pm'ing whom.
Having been the victim of a crazy online forum stalker, I know whereof I speak. It's a form of bullying, no better than the pimply pubescent boy who waits after school for his victim, it's merely more anonymous.

You have to make an effort to see where a member is posting, or what someone is actually doing (as in sending pm's), such as res does. Not at all the same thing as looking at the list to see who is online.

It's like a gun. All in how you use it. A great way to find threads you might have missed and see where friends or interesting posters are in a moment. I often use it when I log on for just that. But if you're sitting on it to find someone you don't like then it's a bit sad and tired.
Like I told someone a bit ago, that's why my first post in the TH/promotes thread is at post 79. I had no idea the thread was in progress/don't look for people who don't interest me and only run into those threads when they show up in a section where I'm mulling.
