A Holy Place
A temple where
"there shall not be left here one stone upon another". Jesus wants us to pay attention to the
"abomination of desolation". What is in the holy place now?
The holy place was the altar in the temple in Jerusalem. The purpose of that liturgy, of that one holy place, was fulfilled, and so God destroyed it with a Gentile army.
The holy place now is disperse, distributed, like the multiplication of the loaves and fish, it's all around the world, on all seven continents. Because the altar in Jerusalem was like X marks the spot, for the altar of the cross, upon which Jesus our passover was sacrificed, offering to God the Father.
What He did as our high priest, offering Himself on that altar, He now does in an unbloody manner at every Mass, offering Himself again and again to the Father as sacrifice for our sins, while we constantly celebrate and commemorate His one eternal (i.e.,
continuous) sacrifice, death and Resurrection, as His Church, celebrating the liturgy of our high priest Jesus, a priest forever of the order of Melchizedek, who offered bread and wine, back before the liturgy of the temple in Jerusalem was given to Moses in the law.
Only Daniel knows and he also knows beasts. So what makes a beast a beast? A good question. There must be something special about a beast of Daniel.
