Christians commanded to be Salt and Light

There are Christians who believe Christians should not be involved in politics. Those Christians misunderstand the Bible. Jesus did not say we are to be the salt and light of the church, but the salt and light of the world.

Matthew 5

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

That you think that Jesus was speaking to you when He was addressing the TWELVE apostles that will sit on TWELVE THRONES judging the TWELVE TRIBES of ISRAEL is part of the typical confusion of the Christian world today.

I agree with you, but I want to point out several verses directed at members of the body of Christ:

For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ” - Acts 13:47 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts13:47&version=NKJV

The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. - Romans 13:12 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans13:12&version=NKJV

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light - Ephesians 5:8 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians5:8&version=NKJV

And generally speaking, we are to be salt and light in the world, salt, because we should preserve that which is good, and light, showing the way to Christ through our life.

Understood... but if people think that we are to be salt and light in the exact same way as the twelve, people will be trying to push Israeli doctrines... like water baptism. This is why it is so important to rightly divide the word of truth.
