Partly the Republicans are reaping the harvest of 8 years of stonewalling Obama on issues upon which the electorate had clearly expressed their wishes.

They had no right to do that and they were not wise.

They have had 8 years in which they could have rethought through their philosophy on social issues, instead they entrenched.

America is looking at a socialist presidency

Yes he shut down the government, that's what I said.

...he didn't do it on his own

The reason they have turned against him is because although they were happy to shut down the government they now want to distance themselves from the blame.

...so Cruz is the fall guy

The reason Sanders is doing so well is because he is the first American politician to present the socialist argument....i.e you pay more tax for better social services

It is a very reasonable proposition

What will Donald Trump do to this country?

Hopefully he'll actually try some common sense, which is more than I can say about any other candidate except for Ben Carson.

Trump is a liberal.

Almost nobody seems to want to admit the fact that Trump is a liberal.

Why don't most people want to admit the fact that Trump is a liberal?

I don't understand why most people don't want to admit the fact that Trump is a liberal.

Did I mention that Trump is a liberal?

He was making a point, but he didn't make it clearly enough.

He made it more than clear enough. Christie knows it is true, but is a vile disgusting pervert. He is on Obama's side, therefore he makes idiot remarks.

And now Christie is out of the campaign. Super Tuesday will be the end of Bush and Kasich. Unless Kasich leaves after South Carolina where he will struggle to get to 2%.

It's time to let the next generation see what they can do. Mine began the downfall, Obama's made it worse - maybe Rubio's will start the healing. I really do like this young man. I believe he is more of a uniter than Trump will ever be. Mr. Trump alienates a lot of conservatives, and I have a hard time believing his rude crudeness will play well in the south. But he is certainly a better alternative than Hillary & Bernie.
Is your chief concern to unite the country or just to unite the Republican party?

I think it will be interesting when Trump tries to collect on the cost of the wall from Mexico, and Mexico says "No Way". Trump will sputter and steam then realize he needs to go to Congress to get something done and at that point, the powers that be in Congress will agree with Mexico. What does The Donald do then?
Or some world leader will criticize him, effectively defriending him and he will attempt to retaliate. But running the country is a bit different than his "I have more $ than you so I get the better deal" attitude.
Maybe he will just attempt to bankrupt the country like he has several businesses.
And the crazed right thinks Obama hurt the country? You ain't seen nothin' yet.

With the others, Teddy wants a theocracy and Marco wants to reinvade Cuba.
Kasich is actually the only reasonable republican but the base won't buy it. You guys may just be forced to swallow hard and take Jeb (yawn)>

But for the fact that Sanders has no real foreign policy background and the right will hang the "communist" tag on him, he might be the best choice of all. Avoids the Bible waving, the Hillary distrust and the bombastic Trumpster.

With any luck the Republican party will self destruct sufficiently to get both the House and Senate back in Democratic hands.
Great analysis. Very well stated.

Yep. That's what unbridled, unleashed, partisan ideology does to you. Republicans are not thinking, they're reacting. They've been doing this for decades and the rooster is finally coming home to roost.

Evidence that American politics is nothing more than a football game, folk just root for their team, no matter what. You got an 'R' on your name and suddenly you can do no wrong to all self-proclaimed Republicans and conservatives. They will defend and justify your actions to the death. Meanwhile, will crucify the guy with a 'D' on their name for doing a fraction of what your guy does.

It's how it goes.
