America is first and foremost a secular state - no Christian should be under the illusion that it is the role of any secular state to foster or promote Christianity.

Cool story. A much repeated, loaded one.

Most of history has been 'secular' in law. People act like before America, or during feudalism, we were in a 'theocracy'. The fact of the matter is that 'theocracy' only went as far as people preaching heresy. Other than that, it was basically secular.

Just like many other words, 'theocracy' has been taken to mean absolutely anything perceived as remotely 'religious'- a word that has been sabotaged.

No atheist should be under the illusion that 'secularism' is about 'desisting from the promotion of religion'. Religion is abstract- it places a common theme on the consensus of laws, which is completely valid in a secular state.

Atheists essentially try to put themselves in place of the religious as being the dictation of law. In other words, they simply presume they can usurp a majority based on their own decree.

Yes, America should repent, but not for the things Evangelical Christians say it should .
Why don't we repent for allowing so many children to go hungry in the world's richest nation ?
For allowing children to be harmed by polluted water in Flint, Michigan .
For allowing gay people to be fired from their jobs, discriminated against , viciously beaten and even murdered in cold blood, and transgender people, too .
For not speaking out against hateful, bigoted "preachers" who foster mindless fear and hatred of gay people in so-called "sermons" which should be encouraging love of one's neighbor, and even calling for the execution of gay people by our government .
Why don't we repent for allowing so many people to lose their jobs and homes because of outsourcing of jobs by greedy CEOs who couldn't care less about people in their own country and give their work to desperately poor people in third world countries who are payed starvation wages ?
Why don't we repent for allowing so many veterans to go hungry and live on the streets ?
Why don't we repent for allowing over 4,000 US troops to die in Iraq and the slaughter or hundreds of thousands f innocent Iraqis ? All because of the love of mammon of certain greedy and unscrupulous politicians ? And so on.

God has blessed the USA .. (I'm not American but often work in USA)
As America continues to turns its back on God, will That blessing continue?
I see the possibility of the fall of the great 'American empire', being directly connected to a nation that turns its back on our Creator God and Savior.

Hmmm,....so far that total conversion project hasn't taken place. Currently Christianity makes up only about 1/3 of the world's population professing to be 'Christian' (Catholic, Protestant and Other), while all other world religions are holding their own quite well. In fact some project that Islam may surpass Christianity if current growth trends hold (projections from year 2010 - 2050);)
