31 translations calculate the number and only 15 count it. I calculate it with a calendar converter.
Daniel suggests number is a date with "number of the years". Gibbon has Islam attacking Constantinople 46 years after the Hijra. Put 46 in an Islam calendar converter and you get 666.
The Julian calendar starting in 44 BC puts the Hijra in the year 666.
"And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark" 13:17
If the mark is a date, everything bought and sold today has a date.
