only one ?

Yes, I only had one in the refrigerator. I was saving it for today.

If you're into craft beer, and you like porters, there aren't too many better than Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald.

beeradvocate.com has it as the #13 porter in the world.

Being born and raised in Michigan, I remember this well. I was fifteen years old.

This summer I drove from Toledo to Mackinaw City, spent the night in Mackinaw City, crossed the Mackinac Bridge the next morning, and then took highway 2 across the Upper Peninsula all the way to Wisconsin.

IOW, I got my fill of Michigan.

Also, I have now literally dipped my toe in all five of the Great Lakes.

Regarding beer, what do you mean by "porters"?

i remember seeing the Fitz go by my place when i was a teen - the Anderson doesn't come down our way anymore, but she's still sailing

looks like she's off Escanaba today: http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/de...66972020/imo:5025691/vessel:ARTHUR_M_ANDERSON

this is the Coast Guard at the Soo Locks talking to the Captain of the Anderson - at 1:36 he asks the Captain to consider turning around his fully loaded 700 foot ore boat and go back out in the teeth of the storm to look for survivors

..

i used to play this for the scouts as an example of courage
