I work at a day program with adults with disabilities.I run the computer lab, teaching rudimentary computer skills to the people we serve. This year the agency I work for got a CNC router for our wood shop and are in the process of obtaining a 3D printer for my classroom. I have been given the task of learning how to run the 3D printer to help the people our agency serves work on craft projects and things like that. This week I have been training on the CNC router to get my feet wet as we wait for the 3D printer to arrive.

I am pretty excited about the learning opportunity. I am already looking at plans on the web for building my own CNC machine,

Have fun Del. CNC will allow you to wood lathe, once you get used to it. Take care of the machine i.e. fluids

You'll see once you cut........... and yes take care of the machine.

I cut a couple of signs this week. Made a Superman emblem for my grandson, with his name above it. Turned out pretty cool.

I don't know what a cnc is but I dream of a 3d printer to carve out brushstrokes on a panel and I paint on top of it making it look like I used thick paint on canvas.

I probably better off using 3d routers instead of 3d printing.

keep track of all your fingers and thumbs, and remember that if one comes off, stick it in some ice and they'll probably be able to sew it back on :thumb:

Got pics?
It came up sideways and Damion already drew on it, but this will give you an idea. This was just a quick trial run on a piece of scrap plywood. Most of the signs they do in the wood shop get stained or painted first so, what is carved out, shows a lot more contrast.
