1 Cor 1:17 and false Christians

If you teach anything in addition to the cross and resurrection of Christ for salvation, you are cursed by God Himself (Gal 1:8-9) because you have preached another gospel.

If you are trusting a gospel that includes anything beyond believing Christ died for your sins and rose again for your justification, you have believed another gospel that has made the cross of no effect for you, and you are not saved.

(17) Not to baptize.—Preaching was eminently the work of the Apostles. The deacons used to baptise (Acts 10:48).

I see baptism as symbolic of dying to the old self and arising anew in Christ. The person being baptized must have repented and want to be saved.

What? It's not believe and be circumcised -- believe and repent --believe and be baptized -- believe and confess your sins ---believe and tithe ten percent --- believe and forgive your enemies -- believe and sell all you have -- believe and endure to the end? We're to add NOTHING to the work of the cross?

Amen, brother, and that is the danger of trying to mix Paul's gospel with that which Peter, John, and James preached.
If people can't see the danger of adding to the gospel of grace, they are lost and are leading others to the pits of hell.

It is straight out of Exodus as the ceremonial washing of God's priest-nation. It is for and about messianic Israel and no one else.

Exactly, and that's the reason Christ agreed to be baptized...to fulfill all righteousness of the LAW concerning His priesthood.
These continual "washings" (water baptism) were always for the Jews as part of the law.

We are no longer under the law.

If that person is wanting to be saved, they need to believe Paul's gospel and be baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ.


Preach the cross and Christ crucified PLUS NOTHING.
