If Nero is Mr. 666 then "the name of the beast" is literally on the coins made for him.
Logic check: If Nero is Mr. 666 and his name is printed on a coin, is it true that that coin has upon it "the name of the beast or the number of its name"? Even if there are zero coins with '666'? If you...
There are two 666 references in the Bible that concern Solomon /Jedidiah. There's also another 666 that refers to how many people are in a family or clan or something like that. So all told there are four 666's in the Bible. If you are not aware.
That's an interpretation. Solomon is a king...
Why? See below.
That doesn't follow for me. It would seem to be more like we find out Paul was a fraud, but he still preached the real Gospel, and people still really believe in Christ because of that Word that Paul----the whole thing an act, on his part----preached. You could still damn...
One thing to be aware of with 666 is what the Church thought about it, much closer in time to when Revelation was written. We have written evidence of a couple things worth knowing. One is that Nero was at least in some ancient 'circles' "Mr. 666", and the other is that there exist manuscripts...
The idea that it's "just" Nero contends with the idea that Nero is just 'a' 666, but not the only one for all time.
This view believes that there is at least one more '666' to come.
So what I'm saying is that, it's not impossible that Nero is 'the', 'Mr. 666', and that that's the end of it...
It would certainly explain the rigorous resistance to 666 just being Nero. That closes the interpretation on Revelation, makes it a largely 'preterist' book like how Acts is largely preterist and how the Gospels are largely preterist. There's so much more room for the imagination to run if 666...
No. It's impossible. Because the Apostles aren't here anymore. It can't be worse than losing Peter and Paul within a year of each other, if that's what actually happened. They had to die sometime of course, but to go by execution, within a year of each other, was as close to a fatal blow...
I kind of feel the same way about anyone who thinks that democracy is in peril, whether or not he did. Because our political situation brushed off last January 6th like a mosquito. Basically nothing happened that day, it was closer to a 'prank' than a real attempt to take power, and all the...
As opposed to members of the Republican 'base', these were 'independents'. They wouldn't be the ones voting Repub straight down every ballot, every election. That's I think the common meaning of calling someone a Republican. These people liked what the party offered in President Trump, but...
Nobody can ever do that again, that was the point of 666 maybe just being a single historical individual, in case anybody missed that.
Nero was the Roman emperor, and Peter and Paul were right in his backyard cultivating the Church that is in Rome. Paul wrote a famous epistle to this Church...
Interesting.
Interesting that you say that there are four main views of Revelation as a book, and that this thread is devoted to the dicussion of those views, but that here the one Revelation passage that is overtly, expressly mysterious (cf. the thread's title) there is only one possible...
Maybe. But 13:18 is an open puzzle, so if the whole book isn't a puzzle, it is a book which contains a puzzle, and it seems like if you know the answer to the puzzle of 13:18, that it can 'unlock' a bit of the mystery of the book.
Apologies for 'crossing threads' here, but in another thread Glory @glorydaz asks what the difference is between the Bride of Christ and the Body of Christ, or something like that.
Thing is, if we take the bride of the Lamb to be the Bride of Christ to be the Body of Christ to be the Church...
You're more prepared getting the shots than just having already had the covid. Source: just search reliable newspaper headlines (NYtimes (Democrat) wsj (Republican) apnews (non or bi-partisan)) for this information.
John 6
" 53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you."
Yep. The uniquely 'Protestant' view is that all answers must be and are found and can be found in the Bible, the 'canon' of Scripture. But even then as you know you still have to contend with poor and faulty arguments. As "Ray LaFleur" said, "It's the Bible, it's open for interpretation."...
It can change the meaning of passages for you if you understand the Church to be the bride of Christ, because then all that is written about the Body of Christ, the Church, and the Bride of Christ, are all talking about the same thing. That's a big change in how you read the Scripture, obviously.
