The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

I'm planning on recording something soon in a game I play that may answer some questions.

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

I'm not sure if anyone has, mainly because of the expensiveness of such a journey. But making an argument that the earth is flat because no one has done so is called an argument from silence.

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

I believe I answered this already. If you want to spend the money for that kind of trip, be our guest.

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

At one mile, the drop is less than 0.013% of a change. 2 miles away (drop of 32.01 inches) is a change of just barely over 0.050% change. 3 miles away (farthest distance visible at sea level) (drop of 72.02 inches) is a change of just over 0.011%. I don't think it's even humanly possible to be...

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

Never said anyone was. No, I don't think they figured everything out. I think they were lacking quite a bit. So you're not questioning that one can use math to determine if the earth is round or flat? Because (tongue in cheek) it's simple trigonometry... Again, never said anyone was...

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

This is a written forum, not a video sharing site. If I wanted to watch YouTube videos, I'd open up the YouTube app on my phone or the page on my computer's browser and watch them there. But I'm on TOL, not YouTube, meaning I'm here for written discussion and reading responses. So could you...

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

Is it possible that the Greeks got it right on calculating the size of the earth, at least in the ballpark? So then it should be easy to show where their math is wrong, right? Could you do so for us here? Again, would it then be easy to show where the math is wrong, and show your work here...

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

I think that the Grecians were a very smart people, with strong interest in mathematics and philosophy. I think their philosophy was not grounded in truth, but I'm pretty sure mathematics can't be influenced by philosophical beliefs. 1+1=2 whether you're a polytheist or atheist or monotheist.

Dave, I'm pretty sure I'm still waiting for a reply to one of my posts.

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

Dave, an 8in drop over a distance of 63,360in (1mi) is not going to be very noticable. In fact, unless you can perceive a drop of 1/7920th of a mile at a distance of a mile away, you're not going to be able to see the curve from ground level. Again, Dave, unless you can see a 1/7920th of a...

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

Dave, even assuming that gravity doesn't exist, and it's only density/buoyancy that causes things to rise or fall, on a spherical mass, things would rise and fall in relation towards the center of the earth, not north being up and south being down. If "down" is towards the center of the planet...

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

Hey, PJ, can we avoid taking verses out of context? The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance and saw heaven...

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

So you're saying that no flat earther has any numbers as to the size of the earth (if it's flat), yet we globers have measurements of the earth, circumference at the equator, diameter, mass, etc? As many miles as who says? How far, PJ, do they say it is from the north pole to the equator? Double...

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

Yes, the north star is in line with the north pole. That does not make it the north pole though.

North Pole != North Star Duh.

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

Still waiting for an idea of how far, PJ. How far away in the flat earth model is the southern border to the north pole, and an additional question, how far is the equator from the north pole?

The earth is flat and we never went to the moon

Hey, if you want to spend the money on flying a plane from north pole over the south Pole and back to the north pole, no one is stopping you.
