  • There are so many biases we have - all of us, to one degree or another, none of us is immune. We tend to see what we want to see even when trying really hard to reign in the impulse. :) I think there are 144 known cognitive biases.
That's a great quote, and I agree 100% . Thanks for the link, I may be able to read the whole thing if I go through the university library, so I'll give it a try.

    Thanks. :)
:chuckle: Joining you in that dream... :cloud9:

I'm pretty much burned out on Trump, though. Not that there isn't a lot to keep track of still - but that's the problem. There's just so much there. It's overwhelming.

I'm glad you got to enjoy one of your best times of the year. That kinda brings out the mom in me, being happy when the boys are happy. :) Enjoy tonight with your brother. I hope he's doing all right these days.

School is good... graduation is around the corner. I can't believe it. I'm not going to walk, though.
:chuckle: But one can dream a little dream, right?

I'm doing all right. I hope you are too. Did you enjoy your week of basketball?
Hey, kmo. Just stopping by to say hi. I was tempted to leave an April Fools message that Trump had decided he wasn't having enough fun as president and was stepping down, but dangling such a hope seemed too cruel.
    Stelllllaaaaaa!!!!!!

Maybe the exercise will clear things up faster.

And no thanks, I think I'll stay put. :chuckle: It's 4:37 as I type this and I just checked the temp - it's 75 degrees. :)
I know... that's what macho looks like when it's disintegrating during a soccer game. :chuckle:

No fun shoveling with a cold, right?

I've never had to shovel my way out of anything.

(Well, a bad argument, maybe... )
I'm so sorry. :( I hope he manages to cope all right through it, although there's no easy way. Hopefully he has some good support to help him through.

I saw the grocery lines in some cities, hunker down and take care of that cold and maybe the worst of it will be over before you start your vacation. :) Hang in there until Thursday!

Here's a little medicine to help pull you through, it shows reactions to Barcelona's historic win - the announcers cracked me up. :chuckle:

I still have my text, if I can remember I'll skim through it over spring break and see if I can find some info for you.

    And :chuckle:

Hope things are well with you. :)
Yes, they're not an ideological monolith, that's for sure.

And oh yeah... I'm so totally radical ... :rotfl:

    :rotfl:
Alice Paul was still in her 20s when she organized that historic parade. They were attacked by male spectators all along the route and the police did little to intervene. The history is fascinating, and not without self-inflicted wounds either, because there were a lot of differences within feminism - how to integrate the more and less radical ideologies, women of color, working women and upper class women, etc. It wasn't until I took the course that I realized how male-centered my history had been up to that point. It didn't make me a radical feminist either (despite what some here think :chuckle:) but I came out of it with a new and renewed respect and appreciation for the overlooked accomplishments of women in American history.
It sure is. :D I learned about Alice Paul and other pioneers and heroines of the First Wave last year this time in my women's studies class. Can you imagine... it was the first time in my life I learned about the work done by the early feminists, or even knew their names. I've benefited from the advances they set into motion, but you just don't find feminist history in the average conservative Christian school... or Black history either, come to think of it. My (Christian) high school was as white/patriarchal/Euro-American-centric as they come. And I just didn't realize it at the time.
Okay. You could literally right a book on that stuff, it's not easy to distill down to to a few paragraphs.
Oh, it sure is. :chuckle: Did you notice the third one is the weakest of the bunch? I wonder if that's why it's in the middle of the group, for protection. :)
