A legally armed bystander is a hero after helping thwart a Pennsylvania mall shooting earlier this week.

A media release from the Lancaster Bureau of Police detailed the harrowing moments before the unnamed bystander stepped in.

According to the report, an unnamed 16-year-old male started shooting after engaging in a fight with another person. The teen, according to WGAL-TV, pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots.

At that point, the report noted, multiple people became involved in a struggle for the gun.

The legally armed bystander intervened and was able to hit the teen suspect, sending him to the ground.

Contrast that with a story out of Philadelphia yesterday of the woman who was raped and sexually assaulted for 45 minutes on a train while other passengers on the train did nothing except hold up their cell phones and record it.

Her attacker? An illegal immigrant who had been convicted of a sex crime a couple years ago and had his deportation order stayed by a liberal judge.

The armed churchgoer who stopped a gunman who opened fire inside a White Settlement church last month and killed two people was awarded the state's highest honor at the Texas Governor's Mansion Monday morning.

Jack Wilson was awarded the Governor's Medal of Courage, the state's highest civilian honor, for stopping an armed man who brought a gun into the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement and opened fire, killing a deacon and a member of the church's volunteer armed security team as services began on Sunday, Dec. 29.

"When events arise, you're going to do one of two things. You're either going to step up and do what's right or walk away. And I'm not one to walk away," Wilson said, accepting the medal at the Texas Governor's Mansion Monday.

And another just ending to a mass-murdering horror when a private citizen, armed with a legally-owned assault rifle, stopped an armed mass-murdering gunman in his tracks.
