What is "how God divides and gives faith , which is kin God's power"? What power are you referring to?
Perhaps he meant the following...
Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Romans 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
Ephesians 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
Ephesians 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
That "effectual working" is the idea of a power or an empowerment working in each one that was meant to work in each of them as one.
The result being the Body members ending up working in harmony with one another as one; the result of that being one strong unit.
Much like how a squad is meant to work in the military: it is their harmony as one that results in their being a rather capable force.
At Corinth that had not been possible because they were too busy trying to out do one another.
The result being that instead of projecting Christ; they were projecting their own nonsense as coming from one another.
The result of that being that they ended up reading their nonsense as being what Paul himself had been up to!
But the fact was that they were unwisely measuring themselves among themselves.
The result being that the power in them had been nullified.
You'll note that in the latter half of Ephesians 4, Paul goes into what their perspective should be, when looking at things.
Some years ago, a sister in the Lord was complaining to me about a coworker who was always very mean to her.
She was at her wits end as to what to do.
Her victory in the Lord had been nullified by how she had allowed herself to perceive her coworker's actions.
I told her that it is easy to "love Jesus."
That what can be difficult if viewed from an improper perspective, is how to tap into the grace wherein we stand in Him when faced with life's issues.
We went over various passages towards basically helping her be able to take such things as water off a duck's back.
Some weeks passed.
She walks up to me one day to tell me things were fine now.
That her coworker had not only left her alone, but had even defended her in one instance.
Her coworker had told her she had defended her because she had begun to feel bad when her attacks had begun to be met with that sisters "cup of cold water" in return.
Romans 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Doesn't always work in the other person though :chuckle:
I once had a supervisor who was really difficult because I would not give in to her wanting to date me (even though she had already had a boyfriend!)
One day she ended up with a really bad cold but had to work anyway.
The next day I brought her a bowl of chicken soup I had made from scratch.
As much towards her well being as for my own spiritual stability, given how difficult she was.
She knew I had made it myself because I often invited coworkers over and cooked for them; work buddies, and such.
Her response was classic her, lol
"Tell who ever made that soup it was so so..."
Even though she ate all of it - emptied the entire thermos :chuckle:
Me; I was fine.
I had tapped into the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
It is how the power works now; this side of "that which is perfect."
Anyway, hope that gives you some insight into this power able to work in the measure of every part those passages are talking about.
How to tap into same...
Ephesians 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
There is power in the Blood!
Wonder working Power!
