Whatever happened to Friday nights?

When I was young my parents would have friends over (or vice versa) to play Pitch or Pinochle. They would have cocktails, laugh, smoke and call each other names. All the kids would be outside late doing what kids do. It was loads of fun.

When I was middle-aged we would go play cards (Spades, Hearts or Pitch) at the neighbor's (or vice versa) and laugh and smoke and have cocktails and call each other names. Our kids would be outside doing what kids do. It was loads of fun.

Does anyone get together with friends and play cards anymore?

Any other type of regular weekend get-togethers?

???

Most of the folks in my neighborhood get together all the time.
Usually on patio, porch, garage, and sometimes inside.
Cards and dominoes are played frequently.
With lots of joking and story telling.
And sometimes we all drag out our musical instruments to pick and grin.
I love it!

I suspect everyone, young and old, sits around staring at their smartphones. :)
Ha!

Ya know, when my generation were kids, we would have probably thought smartphones were the most boring thing ever!

Nothing could beat the thrill of your heart pounding while running a real race, or the feel of the earth between your fingers while constructing a mud fort to protect all your plastic cowboys and dinosaurs.
Straining your leg muscles to the limit just to see how fast you could pedal that bike, and proudly boast of your scar because you were the only girl brave enough to attempt the death defying jump over Shady Creek and have everyone talking it about for days!!!

When I lived my childhood, I LIVED my childhood!

You know that's where hootenannys are born, right?

When I still lived west that was the usual doings on a weekend. Folks here in Dixieland just don't assemble themselves.

Sounds like a GOOD time Tambora!
