I've tried at times very hard to not sneeze, and to not cough. When I've failed in my endeavor, I wouldn't even say that it's reluctantly that I do sneeze or cough. It's 100% involuntary. So no, I don't necessarily agree that 'doing something is indicative of [my] desire to do it.'
