Last week on the Dennis Prager show were 3 great call-ins about our knowledge of Soviet culture:
1, an adjunct professor in the San Diego area said he does no know of any high school students coming into his classes on comparative economies who show any exposure to what communism has actually been like
2, a Houston professor said in his 10 years there, he knows of one student who knew about Stalin's starvation of Ukraine in 1938-39
3, a builder from Michigan took his HS freshman son to build a church in Ukraine. "Most villages in our area consisted of generational alcoholic adult males who have been that way since the Soviet era, women and children running the village, Soviet-era farm machinery rusting out on the outskirts of town, and topsoil 12" deep in many places not being productive."
